What earns money and what doesn't

I'm a bit confused about which mylot activities earn money and which ones don't. If I select someones answer as the best, does that person get money? or if I rate a reply positively, does that earn that person money?
I'm wondering if I may be inadvertently spiting some friends by not properly rating the responses or whatever else I could be doing to help them earn more.
I'm sure the information is here somewhere but I just haven't stumbled upon it yet and would appreciate the hand up with this.

I don't know, but if you find out -- please tell me! I just write articles & answer others. Haven't posted any pix yet...

Reading the FAQs and the guidelines answers all of these questions. Ratings don't earn money, it just builds a mylotter's reputation, which is shown through the star they have. Giving a best response is purely for fun, and no extra money or points is given. But if you scroll to the bottom of the page, you'll find the guidelines and FAQs.
