And then been amazed at how little interest you generated?? I posted a topic on racism versus stereotyping some time back and thought that it was a very well thought out and interesting question to ask of people. I was really surprised that I received as few responses as I did.... Am I alone here?

I have friends on myLot and I am notified by e-mail when they post a discussion but I don't post to their discussion unless it interests me and not all my myLot friends respond to my discussions.

I am not notified by email as it was driving me crazy!!! I do check what friends have posted and like you; I respond only to those topics that interest me.

I don't think you are alone. I've seen a couple of discussions that really need some thought but not people respond to such posts. From what I have observed here, I find most of the posts are for discussions that people relate to on a daily basis - life, relationships, latest gadgets, etc. Maybe you can try and word the discussions in such a way that it interests people.

lol...I just checked out the discussion you mentioned. It is interesting. I didn't respond 'coz I'm still thinking:P People sometimes don't respond if they have nothing interesting to say.(even if they think the topic is interesting)and some others just don't want to think.

That sounds like an interesting topic to me. Unfortunately, really interesting and engaging topics rarely generate a lot of interest anywhere these days. Too many poeple would prefer to just not think of things as it makes it easier for them. Also, not many people think for themselves these days, so if there's not a set opinion/thought out there for them to have already, they have no thoughts on the subject at all. Sad, isn't it? There are people that would be interested in a topic like that, but the chances of them seeing it, unless things are timed perfectly, are slim. Don't let it stop you from making topics like that, though. It's needed.

Yes it is sad..... Especially when you consider that posting on the internet like this is anonymous! Thanks for responding.

Yes. Its really quite strange. You post a topic that you believe is really interesting and get very few responses; yet some topics of no substance whatsoever get hundreds!! I have never received over 100 responses! Thanks for responding.

Hi there buddy, what's been up to lately? Well, you are not alone with that concern James. I had the same scenario actually and i posted some discussions of mine that i thought that i could get like 20 or more responses. But then, i just had some responses and some of them asked what was that all about? LOL i mean like, HELLO? hehe Which planet are these people came from? hehe (kidding aside). Well, it's just a proof that people here are different and not all the people here are sharing with the same interests at all. Some of us have our similarities with others, that's why we get some responses that almost the same with ours, And some of us here have our opposites that's why we also get people here who don't agree with our thoughts and we should still respect that. Have a nice day ahead and happy posting and earning here in myLot. Ciao, Kiko

Yes, I guess it is no different from a group discussion over dinner..... Some people would take interest and get involved in the discussion yet others may wait until something they consider more interesting to come up! I guess what I am trying to say is that it is sometimes frustrating to open up what you believe to be a really interesting conversation piece and have not many people respond.... Kind of like telling a joke and nobody laughs! Thanks for responding.

Yes, you are definitely not alone. It happened to me a few times too. And what surprised me even more is simple and mundane topics that didn't take too much time to think about got much more response than the well-thought one. Perhaps there are lot of users who simply try to find easy topics to participate to in order to earn. And we all can understand why they think this way...

Well when I first joined myLot there were an unbelievable number of inane topics such as "What is your favorite color?" and "What is your age?" etc It was really disheartening to be honest but it doesn't seem to happen so much anymore! There were a number of really interesting people participating too that got fed up and left because of it. I too have been quiet for some time but am starting to become more active again! Let's see what happens! Thanks for responding.
