Too MUCH news?

I didn't even finish reading your discussion when I started thinking about years ago when none of this would be happening. If I remember right it all started back in the Viet Nam era and I think it was Nixon who gave reporters the ok to film everything that was going on. My ex was in Nam at the time and every time I turned on the tv I worried that I would see him in a bad situation. I think it's the dumbest thing the Us ever started.

You mean like when Government propaganda ruled and even if our country was doing a terrible thign we were told it was the right thing anyway? Yeh I agree actly, I would like that too, ignorance is bliss!

Actually, it isn't the news that is the problem as much as the fact that the news we get is not the true story.

The news we get is selectively delivered after being vetted and spun to achieve the results desired by those news services with a specific agenda...which is to shape public opinion of our involvement in Iraq and the war on terror in general.

We are not getting the true facts, we are getting only what the news people want us to know. It isn't so much news as it is opinion pieces.

As it is...there was a lot of antiwar sentiment in WWII and that president was called out of touch, and people wanted us out of there too.

Even with the better news services, the results are much the same now as then. The only real difference is that now we get the news much sooner, as opposed to waiting two weeks to read it in the paper, or listening to the radio to keep up to date.
