BIRD NEWS: Some can see the Earth's magnetic field!  

They featured this in one of their shows and I've read something about this too. Some birds can even detect their food miles away thru its frequency! Those blind birds who can fly at night and catch their food (using radar system)is way above normal.

It sounds like not only do they have their own little compass, but they may have a built in GPS as well.

Next they will find that they also possess a built in autopilot to keep track of things while they snooze on those long nonstop trips.

Hi Red, I've heard of this somewhere before as well, although I can't quite put my finger on it. They tried to draw the picture for us. They said that the birds would a pink blob in the middle of their veiw if looking due north, if they swung their heads to the west the blob would move to thier roght side of vision, if they then moved their heads and looked east, the blob would swing across the the left side of their peropheral vision. I guess they must have some kind og magnetic bits in their eyes. I agree with being human though, all those animal senses just don't make up for having the ability to conceptualise.

Of course some can. They already have some outstanding vision and some of it does extend into areas where humans cannot perceive. Its also like some cats and a few creatures seeing into the ultraviolet, its an interesting perspective. A lot of these animals with perception thats inaccessible to humans, one always has to wonder why the human race does not have such traits. Some have good vision, hearing, smelling and taste, but even the top of the top don't come close to what birds, cats, dogs, fish and other creatures in the realm of senses.
