What sort of things do you like to prepare in the fall? I love food in the fall, it's cooler outside so it's ok to start the ovens again or soups in the crockpot. My favorite to make in fall are roasts, soups and breads. What about you? Ohhh pumpkin pie is a great fave!

It all sounds great to me. At this moment I am eating scalloped potatoes with chunks of ham in it and lots of cheddar cheese on top. Hint about the pumpkin pie: get some little baking cups, custard cups or ramekins, spray the inside with non stick cooking spray. Make your regular pumpkin pie filling, but bake it in the cups instead of in pastry. Crust is okay, but it is the most fattening part of the pie. It is full of white flour. Make the filling with splenda, and serve it in the small individual cups with fat free cool whip. You still are having a taste of the season, but saving tons of carbs and calories. I do the same with lemon meringue.

Thanks for the tip! Sounds great. My favorite part of any pie is the crust, in fact I love apple pie crust but don't like apple pie filling, lol. I swear my diet has got to be 98.9% carbs! My mom doesn't like that soggy undercrust though (my fave part) so she'd love the pie in little cups and I guess I could stand to eat less crust.

Mostly soups, stews, casseroles. I love making Cheese Broccoli Soup, Cabbage and Potato Soup, Beef Stew, Lasagna, Shepard's Pie and Hubby makes Chili. I also love to do baking in the winter since having the oven on doesn't make it too hot inside like it does in the summer.

Ah! You're like me too. I keep the oven off all late spring and summer long to, and like who the heck is in the mood for soups in the summer? Now I can go back to oven-fried chicken which I prefer over deep fried, and soups---mmmmmm....I love making my hearty lentil soup, chicken soups, and yes love to roast foods in the oven. I might start making up my homemade lasagna and manicotti in quantity then freeze...then all I have to do is pop it in the oven...I haven't made Justin Wilson's Louisiana meat pies in a long time and might get back into doing that..ah...the list is endless. Knowing you're love for Italian anything...do you make your own lasagna/manicotti??

That's it you have xray vision! Mom's in the kitchen making up lasagna right now, lol. So yeah we make our own (although I like mine better than hers but it keeps her busy so I'm all for her making it today, lol). I love manicotti and stuffed shells and I'll make a ton and then freeze them too. Spoke too soon... I'm being summoned to the kitchen to help. In the words of Pooh... Oh bother!

I love soup, and spicy things in the fall. That warms me up internally. I especially love my mom's cooking for spicy stuff. Those which could burn my mouth! *laughs* Oh and those baked rice and spaghettis with cheese are my favorites too, just can't have too much of those, otherwise I would be blew up! *smiles*

I like to cook soups and stews in the fall.
Not only are they tasty, healthy and warming
to the body, they are great for freezing.
I use them when in a hurry to get to the malls to
start Christmas shopping. And when frozen in
the right amount of servings the kids(or even the husband,
if he knows how to use a microwave)can fix their own dinner
while I'm away.
I save the baking for the colder days.

I love cooking in the colder months. I love to make chili and stew. I love to make all kinds of different soups. Potato and chicken noodle are probably my favorites. I also bake more often when it's cooler out. Like breads, cookies, cakes and pies. My husband wants an egg nog pie as soon as the egg nog hits the stores.

Oh, soups all the way. I love soup and fall and winter is the perfect time to make it. This year I plan to try my hand at making some new soups, as well. I also want to do some variations on some favorites (like corn chowder). I hope that by the end of winter I'll have 50 soup recipes for my cookbook. Since last month I've added a chicken soup, a creamy potato soup, a pork stew and a bean soup.
I also love baking in general, especially in the fall.

My husband loves me to make beans and cornbread. I usually put away my counter top grill and pull out the crockpot. Also for fall are soups, chili, and of course a huge Thanksgiving Feast (there's only 3 of us) We eat on it for 1 day and freeze the rest for a special treat at a later date.
