Yes, you're right. I had a few troubles and upsets in bringing them up right, and had to stumble through one or two bad patches, but when all's said and done, they grew into great adults, and their kids are very well-mannered and caring.

Yes I know all about those rough patches. Sometimes it amazez me that they usually turn out to be responsible adults with what they put us through.

I regard the rough patches as lessons of life, my friend... a time when we can learn what went wrong and find a way to put it right, or at least guide our children in the right direction. I think also, that at the same time, we are learning our lesson, the children also learn. It's the responsibility of the teacher to put them on the path to becoming a decent adult, and I feel now that I succeeded. :) It makes me happy to see what my children have become, and what my grandchildren are becoming.

They always take trouble on my birthday... they're great kids I have there despite them having to go through the trauma of their dad leaving when they were quite young and never bothering with them from that time on. I'm proud of my kids and the way they've taught their own kids. I couldn't wish for better, my friend.

Of course I'll show you some pics when I've done, but initially, designs will be very simple as I'm working on bits for my altar, and tools for my Craft. The cake was a fruit cake, with mixed fruit and cherries in it, minus the peel which I don't like too much. It was white iced, with silver dragees around the edge and a little hedgehog on the top bearing a gift. It had just four candles in it, which I wouldn't blow out, as per my beliefs. I pinched them out, much to their disgust. ha ha ha. There was marzipan beneath the icing and it was moist and delicious. My son always bakes and ices their Christmas cakes and lets the girls help in the decorating of it. He's getting too good, as I said. lol.

Talking about crafts... have you got that pumpkin yet? he he he.

Thank you for your wishes, Lakota. Yes a tea party, like the Mad Hatter had. lolol. Times have changed, we now have breakfast, lunch and dinner here. When I was little, everybody ate dinner at lunchtime, so we had breakfast, dinner and tea. Confused yet? I'm about to tell you that in those days past, we used to have a light supper as well... not much but a cup of cocoa and some biscuits or something. Now, dinner tends to be enough in the evening.

Yes, Lauren does do herself proud, and I like to encourage her in all those creative things she does. :)

Yes, very lucky Aissha and they always treat me well. It was nice for my Mum too because my sister and her hubby, with whom she lives, were away at their caravan for the weekend, and she loved the company.

Hi Ash! Thank you for your belated wishes, and no, not a lot of people did know the actual date. lol. I did have a good time, and as always, some wonderful gifts. I've got this bee in my bonnet about making a whole new set of tools, so this is the start of a new venture to create something from what I have to hand, in nature, and make my tools more personal to me. :) I'm going to enjoy the ride!

Thank you for our belated wishes... yes, as always, I did get some wonderful gifts, and enjoyed some special moments with my family. I'm glad I've inspired you... it's not so much the sitting on my butt online, as a learning curve and a "drawing of energies" into my tradition, because my intention is to make a whole new set of natural tools, charged with my personal powers, and to also attain a portable kit which I can tote around with me on my travels.
It's a new start for me, and I feel this is the most important part of it, as I'm sure you will understand, my friend.

I guess my thought was that I don't do anything "constructive" much these days. I can understand how creating your own tools could be a new start for you, and it sounds like an amazing undertaking.

I am starting to feel in need of a new start, in many ways, and I suppose that's why I am thinking a project sounds good for me.

Yes, I can understand you contemplating new beginnings, my friend, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to use Imbolc as your starting point, as I am. The burning of the designs on wood will hold its double meanings for me, which is why I decided to start now, building up to Imbolc. You can imagine my thoughts as I work through this project. If you conceive this as a good idea pertaining to your beliefs, then why not follow suit? I would be honoured!

Also, in both our cases, it's a good exercise, in that our thoughts are on putting the negatives behind us, and starting anew, whilst we work. Samhain would be a great time to start! Go for it! It just might work out for you, my friend.
