Someone was talking earlier about this comment from Bush. I can't find it again. I've read so much today I can't keep track. Anyway, I just saw a news article about his statement and that it was rhetorical. He just meant to stress that it would not be good for Iran to pursue nuclear power as we wouldn't be able to trust that they wouldn't persue aggressive use of it. Here is the article http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2007%5C10%5C20%5Cstory_20-10-2007_pg4_12

It's more of the usual arrogance we should have come to expect of Bush by now. I find it very difficult to believe a single word that comes out of the mouth of anyone in this Administration. It was meant to be a thinly veiled threat. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if there are strikes against Iran right before the 2008 election. God, please get us through the next 15 months! Annie

I agree with you completely. I can't even stand to watch the man anymore. I hate how he speaks, it's unprofessional and drives me crazy. every time he's on I have a huge urge to blow up my TV just to make it stop!

Maybe he will declare a State of Emergency, impose Martial Law, suspend all elections, declare himself Absolute Ruler and start rounding up liberals, and put those FEMA Camps to good use... :) Now, chew on that for a while.

Right on ladies. I couldn't stand him when he was running for the first election. I just thought he had beady eyes and didn't look to truthful. Kinda reminded me of a used car salesman of olden days. I couldn't stand his down home good ole boy attitude this was not what I was looking for in someone to run the country. And---- if you read the right newspapers it sounds like Laura is getting fed up with the whole Bush clan. I'll bet she dumps him as soon as he is out of office. I always wondered about them because she always seemed way to classy for him.

This is my true opinion here. Look at the world and what it's become. I'm not a religous fanatic or anything but I do know bits and pieces of the bible however I don't know what you believe but I am a Christian. Anyway, God said he's going to destroy the world by fire the next time the world becomes too corupt. Nuclear war is basically fire. Our world isn't what it should be but one of all of me and none for you type for the most part. Not all of us but the majority is like that. God isn't happy with that. I feel that we're in for a world war III and it's going to be real soon unless people decide to straighten up and do the right thing and maybe then we can hold off on our world being destroyed at all or at least in our lifetime. Maybe it's wishful thinking, I don't know but I do know this, I'm scared. Very scared.

I believe the president was trying to make a point, but as usual he went about it the wrong way and flipped people out instead. I don't think WW3 would be something to just state as an example. There are still to many people who remember the first two or have heard about it. I do agree that it could end all human life. We have the technology to do that. It's a scary thought but you never know what will happen in the future.

Of course it was rhetorical... although there are many who would jump at the chance to call Bush a warmonger because of it. Just like there are contingency plans for a war with just about anyone, that does not mean that we intend to go to war unless forced to do so. The are far too many people who don't think for themselves and jump to insane conclusions just because some talking head or some partisan organization is out to score some political points. There are a lot of sheeple in America who seem incapable of independent thought, and repeat every little rumor or bit of gossip like it was gospel. No one in their right mind thinks it is a good idea for Iran or any other terrorist sponsor nation to have nuclear capabilities, and if they ever got them then it is no big stretch to imagine that they could touch off the next world war. Bush makes a for instance type of statement and there are certain partisan just organizations primed, ready, and waiting to make the most political hay out of it that they possibly can while knowing full well that it is a lie. There are people just waiting to hear stories like this because they want to believe the worst about Bush, or whoever else is involved. They don't care about truth and doing what's right, all they care about is political power and have no regard for the truth in their mad dash to for control. The people who fall for this kind of nonsense are those uninformed sheeple who believe the way that they are told to.

That is what is so great about our country...the right to our own opinion and the right to vote how we believe. You managed to say quite a bit for someone who didn't want to comment on this. LOL. Feel free anytime to say what you want on my discussions.

Kind of interesting he'd even bring up WWIII even in passing right around the same time we have all this "hoopla" about the nuclear war heads/bombs being "mistakenly" transported across country.

Am not a prophet of doom estherlou, but i really want to agree with you. The way things are moving, if we thought the cold war would usher the 3rd world upon us, we must think again. I see a conspiracy to challenge American super stardom and states are beginning to gang up-Russians under Putin are lately appearing very antitheical to American interests like the nuclear shield in Georgia. They are also tryig to undermind the popular world oppinion against the Iran Nuclear project by supplying the resources for building the weapons. You recall Putins much hyped visit to Iran recently? We are yet to see greater opposition against America-Venezuella under Chevez is also showing how much clout he has against American interests-he visits Cuba's Fidel often just to annoy Americans who want to see the end of Fidel. He recently visited Iran mainly to tell America that 'they are coming'! Time will come when America will want to prove a point about her super power status and there the 3rd world war will be in earnest and I can assure you estherlou, that it is very unlikely that Bush and Iran will be on the same side of the battle field!
