Do you lose your appetite when you have a cold?

I have had a cold all week. Stuffy one minute....runny nose the next. I have not felt like eating all week. Just enough to get by. Maybe my taste buds are sleeping or maybe it's because I can't really smell anything right now....but I get hungry but really don't want to eat. Do you get this way when you have a cold?

I haven't had a real cold for ages...years maybe...sniffle one day and it's gone the next...my immune system must work really good. If I had a cold...I probably wouldn't eat anything....either. Hope the cold gets better soon.

Lost of appetite and the lost of the sense of smell and taste are the ways I know I have a cold and not allergies. For me, they both start the same way with a scratchy throat so I have to see if I lose my sense of smell and taste, then it is a cold, bummer. But if I can still smell ans taste , then it is just allergies.I hope you feel better. Take Care.

I do the same thing. It's amazing how much weight a person can lose when they have a cold, LOL. Usually when I have a cold, all I want is orange juice. I don't want water or any soda, just orange juice. Hope you feel better soon!

Hiya jillhill.I always have a cold most especially during the cold season. When I have the colds, I dont really lose my appetite. I just can't concentrate eating because of my runny nose.

It all depends on what I am doing when I have a cold. If I am up and about doing stuff and trying to battle through the cold then I don't feel like eating much, it just feels like another thing on my list of things to do. However if I am lying in bed trying to recover then I eat loads because I get bored not being able to do anything because of my illness, so I pass the time by eating things like soup and drinking hot chocolate.

Yes they say colds can degrade your senses. Your smell, your hearing along with your taste buds. But I guess that will depend on the degree of your cold. If it's serious, perhaps it can degrade your appetite. Because who would want to eat tasteless food right?

I tell you na, worse thing that can affect me is COLD.... I just become v.sick and these medications really make me more weak and drowsy and I don't even feel like eating and just lay down the whole day. Body pains, sneeze, running nose that pains v.badly.....Oh don't wish to be reminded at all. But it affected me after almost 2 yrs and it was worse as ever.
