Shock Collars - yes or no?  

I think it's okay to use during training, but for every day use, I wouldn't do it. They can be cruel. Turn the shocker down as low as it goes.

My big dumb lab would get shocked to death if I put one on him. He'd never learn.

NO!!! There are plenty of effective ways to train a dog. If you have to use a shock collar you shouldnt own a dog! I mean really how would you feel if someone put one on you?? Im sorry but people just dont know how to take care of animals. To many of them end up abandoned, tied up, neglected, dead. Its sad. If your dog is that bad to need a shock collar then you should give him up. Its not fair to the animal to be punished for you not knowing how to care for them and train them!

No I don't think it's okay to use shock collars under any circumstances. There are much better and nicer ways to train a dog that work just as good if not even better and will not result in a fearful dog.

no never. I would not even consider this for training methods. It seems kinda cruel. THere are so many methods to train your dog. this one seems unreasonable to me. Alot of people say their pets are like their kids, well one who never potty train there kid this way, lol.

Of course its not, the inventer of it should be shocked themselves..

As an aspiring dog trainer I personally do not like that method. I hope I'll never ever have to use it in a training class. I know in school we will learn to use them however, which upsets me, but they teach us every method of training in case we ever need it. But personally no, I think it is creul.
