What's the cheapest piece of furniture that you've ever purchased?

Just before my daughter was born, I found a huge red easy chair for fifteen dollars at a local thrift shop. It was so comfortable. And, it was just the size for a pregnant woman. It was in perfect condition and barely looked used. It was the best furniture deal I've ever found. Several years back, we found a blue recliner at a flea market for twenty dollars. It lasted five years. But, then I had to move and decided to leave it. That was the second best furniture deal I've ever found. What's the best furniture deal you've ever found? Have you ever gotten any really good deals on furniture at a thrift shop, Ebay or yard sale? How much money did you save on your furniture?

The cheapest I have ever got on second hand furniture was that it was free. When we moved to USA we had nothing except the clothes in our suitcase. Several families were leaving our condo and were getting rid of their funiture for free and so we were given most of what they had, a two seater, a three seater, a coffee table, dining table, an office chair, an old desk, and a few bits and bobs. We were so lucky. Now that we have purchased some of our own furniture, we gave what we had to my husbands friends that moved from New York to DC, and were starting out afresh too.

Since I do a lot of shopping at a St. Vincent DePaul thrift shop just two blocks from my apartment this one is hard for me to answer...let's see...my couch is an Ethan Allen Traditional Classics that is awesome and cost me a whole $20...I have a coffee table and 2 end tables...$2 each...I got an awesome microwave cart for $5...from what I can see, the people of this city who have "all the money"..lol...take all of the furniture they got tired of to this one store because it's always practically brand new (and I'm there to scoop it up!)....I really can't afford the prices they ask for new furniture these days and am so thankful for this store. I'm always dropping of the clothes I've grown out of or just no longer need.

The best deal I got was a BIG L-shaped desk that I bought yard sale for $10 and Hubby uses it as his desk. It is really well built and he loves. I heard of a woman that was on Antiques Roadshow that bought a little hall table that later was valued at over a million dollars...she paid like $25 for it...Now that's a deal!! The best price furniture I ever buy was three wardrobe for 100 euro from our landlady in Germany. The furniture is pretty old, but you cannot tell. But it has so beautiful ornaments on it and the style is very nice, also the wood is very good quality and color is very nice too.It was the first time we buy some used furniture , becuase my hubby don't like to buy used one, but this one was from people we know, so I guess it was ok.The disadvantage is only how heavy it is when we move all the time.

There are banks and financial institutions which owns guest houses and they purchase furnitures and fixtures for these guest houses. It is written in their books of accounts and every year there will be depreciation. When it become 'zero' value in the books of accounts, they auction it. Most of the furunitures are spaingly used and I bid in auction and purchased it at 1/10th of the market value = some chairs, dining table, dining chairs etc.

Well I got GREAT deals on my whole living room. My neighbor was moving and asked if we would take a load to the dump for her. I asked what she was getting rid of and she said the couch, chair, and coffe table. I was like Nope I want them if your just going to throw them out!! They looked like brand new! The coffee table has three glass inserts in it and is made of wood. So I took all three for Free!! Then another neighbor of ours said they had a chair they didnt need. It was in perfect shape so I took it. Free again! Then..LOL..my husbands dad gave us a Beautifull Wood Entertainment center. I love Free Stuff especially when its in such good condition!! My whole living room was free and it looks great!

We got a bunch of baby furniture from someone my husband used to work with. It was a stroller/carseat combo, a high chair, a bassinet, some bedding, and a few toys. He gave it to my husband in exchange for helping him move his stuff across base.

I found the creative rubber wood disc container(slot-in-type) at IKEA. It cost me for $7USD per unit. So bought for 2 unit. It was very unique looking and a creative stuff to have. And I like it very much.
