Florida living

I lived in florida back in 1989. Family moved for dads job. Not my cup of tea. My mom and brother are still in Fort Lauderdale. Coral Springs specifically. Brother is a bit upset that Florida is ranked 48th in the country for education, as his son is about to start kindergarten in 08.

It's a good place for vacations if you go when the snowbirds leave. Have had fun in the past during off season

I'm Canadian and have spent the winter in the US for the last 12 years. I started by going to Florida, but found that the people were not as friendly, and also Florida was more expensive than South Texas. So I stopped going to Florida, and have been wintering in McAllen, Texas ever since. The people of South Texas depend on the Wintertexans (as we are called here in Tx) to come each winter and bring money to the local economy. In Florida we even saw bumper stickers that said, " I can hardly wait to get old are go to Canada and drive slow!" Thats why I'm a Wintertexan, and not a Winterfloridain!

I live in Florida and I love it here. I live in a little neighborhood where everyone has 5 acres or more and the roads are dirt. There are a lot of poor people in my hood, including me:-) and everyone is so friendly and helpful especially when you least expect it. I would never move away from my little safe haven here.

My family and I are planning to move to Florida in August fulfilling a life long dream. The problem is that we still haven't decided exactly where to settle down. We have been considering Jacksonville, because we come from Omaha and prefer to live in a bigger city and may consider attending Jacksonville U, but we are leaning more toward St. Petersburg, Clearwater area right now. We like it because we've heard the beaches are fantastic, and there are a lot of family oriented activities nearby. It is also just a short trip to Orlando/Daytona. Have you been to the St. Petersburg area and do you have any reccomendations?
