Should religious sculptures be on government buildings?

Angel Blowing His Horn - I have posted another picture of this angel in another discussion. It is sculpted on the side of a large building in Ft. Worth, Texas. I liked the way the two buildings framed the angel's face in this picture.

There has been a lot of news lately about whether or not religious symbols should be on government building. The angel in the picture is sculpted on a large building in Ft. Worth, Texas. I did not find out what kind of building it is, but got to wondering "what if?" What if this building was a courthouse or a government office building? Do you think the angel should be removed?

The pledge of allegiance says 1 nation, under g-d, our money has "in g-d we trust. The 1st public schools in this country were also the town churches. Yes I know about the conflict that has always been the separation of church and state etc. This country is filled with all different religions Catholic, Jew,Protestant, Baptist,Muslim, Hindu etc. I think this issue of removing religious symbols from buildings is of far less importance than how to achieve peace and acceptance for all. Good question I like when one gets me thinking. Thanks

Actually "In God we trust" was put onto the money during the Cold War in order to try and scare away the Communists. So, that is pretty recent compared to the other stuff our nation has.

No, I don’t think the statue should be removed. It all depends on the people’s perspectives and what kind of the representatives they are sending to the Govt. Secular-minded people will see the angel just as another beautiful piece of architecture and religious bigots will see God’s influence in everything they come across. They will also force the Govt. to see religion in everything – angel or no angel. It is only when we give too much importance to non-living things that we forget to see and appreciate the beauty of human creation and respect the human mind for it. The Reserve Bank of India has two huge statues of Hindu mythological characters guarding its front entrance. No one has objected to them yet the RBI is visited everyday by thousands of people of all faiths and beliefs. What we should put stress on is that the policies and decisions of Govts. Inside these buildings remain secular, the building itself maybe decorated in whatever way that is aesthetically appealing to the eyes. But yes, direct reference to any particular religion like the OM, Cross, Crescent etc., should be avoided atop Govt. buildings of secular nations.
