Would you rather shop at corporate businesses or small businesses?

Would you rather shop at a place like Wal-Mart or a small business? I try to shop through small businesses when I can. With my fiance having a small business I know how important it is for small businesses to be able to thrive. In my experience you can get much better customer service through a small business owner rather then going through a large corporation. And in a lot of cases the prices are better as well. Now I am guilty of doing my grocery shopping at places like Wal-Mart and Kroger just because there aren't many small business grocery stores in my area. So which do you prefer to shop from and why do you chose that?

We have several super walmarts in our city and sometimes hubby still goes to United. Walmarts is just so huge it is a pain and takes a long time, even if you stick to your list and don't try to browse the entire store. So, for convenience sake, we sometimes do the smaller grocery stores. I'd also hate for walmart to be the only place to shop.

I live in the city so I am surrounded by big bissnuesses, if I ever wanted to go to a small bisnuess I would have to travel to the outskirts of town which would be out of the way for me.

As I am on a fixed income I do my shopping where they have the lowest prices. I have also noticed the small stores do not have the freshest or latest "sell by" dates on their items.

I shop at small businesses when I can, as its hard to stay in business with all the chain stores that can carry everything. Its even harder right now with people not sure about the economy, so are spending less now. My area buying a house has become a little easier with the prices getting lower, but they still aren't affordable for most people.

I like both. The big box stores sometimes offer better deals but if you are looking for something that is a speciality item you probably will find it in a smaller shop. There are many things I love about smaller shops. Usually the people that work there are better at offering assistance and personal service.

I've found sometimes that small business' are actually a little more pricier than the larger corporate business' only because that's how they want to make money. But I'll shop pretty much anywhere that I can get things cheaper. Whether it's some big corporate booming business or some small mom and pop shop. Also, I shop for convenience to be truthful.

Hi cynddvs! I do patronize small businesses but I still do shop at big groceries too because sometime small shops don't carry all the things I needed. I wish you and your fiance good luck in your business and may you prosper more. Take care and have a nice day!
