Can we live without mobile phone? |
|
I was born in the time that we have no idea what mobile phone is. I remember that I was quite happy to live in that age. I could make an appointment with my friends. I could get along with (ex-) girlfriend. I use public phone to call back home when I have to go home late. All of these without mobile phone.
Today, same for me, we became so nervous when we forgot to bring mobile phone outside. We are not comfortable to use public phone anymore. We start relationship by asking "mobile phone" number from the target.
It looks very useful until I can't imagine anymore how do we live without it. Is this just a matter of perception? Or it really became crucial already?

11. AnoChaudhary (989) | 3 years ago | hello mari...yes it seems like lots of people are into 'can't live without my cell' but personally i can live without it. I try consciously to use to the minimum. Like i never carry my cell when i go to temple, church, movie or a concert. Its so annoying when the cell rings in these places. When i go to my work place of course i got to carry it. But i try and minimize the use as much as possible....

12. coffeebreak (4840) | 3 years ago | We lived without cell phones all this time, so obviously it can be done, we can live without them, we just don't want to. I have one only cause my daughter put me on her family plan so I'd have it for safety reasons and since I keep her daughter - again, safety, but seldom use it. I will call out of state on weekends when it is free, so that is the only advvnatage I have - odn't have to pay long distance fees. I lived all this time without one nad did just fine. But times change. I thought pagers were pretty stupid when they came out. I am sorry but other htan doctors and attorneys and these dealing with serious time limits and deadlines, dont' have to be that accessible. And I dont' want to be talking to someone while I am doing the grocery shopping and it is dangerous to all to be yaking on the cell while driving - so I just think it is a luxury that has gotten out of hand.

I do wish that there were already cellphones during the late eighties because i could have married the man i have truly loved deeply.

| 14. cash4me3383 (4) | 3 years ago | The mobile phone and computers are of course something that I feel that us Americans have become spoiled with. We did not have either of these wonderful equipment, years ago, and now we can't leave the house without them. I know there was a time I ran to Walmart, and I saw a great deal and my husband was not with me, well I grabbed the cell phone, only to realize that it was not in my pocketbook. I think I had a panic attack in the middle of Walmart because I did not have my cell phone. I believe that we rely on things too much, like the cell phones and computers because this is what we were sold and told that we could not live without it. Oh how true is that!

17. muralimn (439) | 3 years ago | I an live with a mobile phone. I think having mobile phone all the time is really a disturbance. We no longer have private life. Anybody can call anytime. Earlier when we were out with friends, nobody disturbed us but now it is difficult to share good times with friends too. It is a useful instrument in case of emergency but I can still survive without it. If given a choice I would keep the mobile for emergency purpose and nobody will have my mobile no.

18. oneandonemakesix (24038) | 3 years ago | I think it would be great to live without a mobile phone however, as we get more and more high tech I have to say I'm not sure that is possible.
I know my husband is pretty much dependent on his BlackBerry from work....although there are more people that are addicted to it higher up.
I think there needs to be more restrictions with kids and driving and the usage of cell phones.
more hands free and less talking while they are driving.

19. lingli_78 (10195) | 3 years ago | i only have a mobile phone when i am 19 years old and that is also because i am studying overseas... my parents cannot contact me easily because i am living in a dormitary... so my elder brother gives me his old mobile phone for me to use... that's how i have one... before that, i never have a mobile phone and i am very fine with it... i think the world has changed so much now... i can see even a child as young as 7 holding a mobile phone and bring it to school... for me, i see mobile phone now as a necessity but crucial... i can still live without it... sometimes, i even purposely leave it at home when i don't want to be disturbed...
