Can we live without mobile phone? |
|
I was born in the time that we have no idea what mobile phone is. I remember that I was quite happy to live in that age. I could make an appointment with my friends. I could get along with (ex-) girlfriend. I use public phone to call back home when I have to go home late. All of these without mobile phone.
Today, same for me, we became so nervous when we forgot to bring mobile phone outside. We are not comfortable to use public phone anymore. We start relationship by asking "mobile phone" number from the target.
It looks very useful until I can't imagine anymore how do we live without it. Is this just a matter of perception? Or it really became crucial already?

Even i rush back home to retrieve the forgottten mobile, otherwise it's a stream of "why you not answering my texts etc. I know so many people who have become so paranoid, because they've texts their partner and recieve no response. Messages get read differently to how there ment, arguments start. People using them to be abusive and it goes on and on!! People walking around either with their phone stuck to their ear, or eyes down, thumbing awaying on a text message. I miss letters and a phone call from someone i haven't had texting me all day, romance is lost to " I lve u" whats going on, i don't like it!!
I whinged a bit there didn't i...sorry...but arghhhh

It is true that we used to live without it, but that was the time when: - a lot of kids got lost because their mom couldnt pick them up at school at the correct time, - a loved one got caught in an accident and you will learn about it when the hospital notifies you the next day, - you wasted time to attend a class only to know that it has been postponed half an hour ago - your son/daughter is feeling lonely and homesick because you got separated.
and many many more...
We are living in an age where loved ones thousands of miles away are just a phonecall or an SMS away... and that is how important the mobile phone is

24. subha12 (16450) | 3 years ago | it is same with me. i think with all others here. when we were born we had no idea about mobile and we grew up without it. But suddenly it has become indispensible part of our life and we can't live without it. May be when we leave home without it, we feel bad.But we also try to manage without it for that day. its the matter of habit.

Also i kept reciveing many calls which i didnt want to answer, but i had to answer in order to show the politeness, so in the past few years, i kept changing my mobile phone number, but the new troubles still kept coming. Sigh...anyways, i have to keep it in order to keep in touch with my parents, friends and coworkers. Everything has two sides, bad and good, but i have to confess that the advantages that mobile phone have taken to us are much more than its shortages. So its not a bad thing.

26. ivandcruz (912) | 3 years ago | i m sure that we learn to live without a cellphone. we did that before. when there is no cellphone we had no real problem at all. i think cellphone really helped us to get in touch with our friends and other people. i feel that without them we still have the telephone and other ways to keep in touch and to give or send other people messages. i will say that cellphones makes everything more accessible and more simple. i really don't use my cellphone at all. i really don't do anything texting. most of the texts or messages of my friends are just greetings. they can really contact me through my landline which is think is more cheaper. it's really expensive to have or to text someone. since i am in prepaid i will rather call my friends on their landline so that i will not pay anymore for the load for me to text them. sometimes i really don't know what is the use of my cellphone. i am planning to buy a new cellphone but not for communication but for its added feature only. i want the camera and the internet features of the cellphone. hopefully i will have the budget soon. i am not really excited though to buy a new cellphone and i am not really in a hurry. i will try to buy one if i can afford already to have one.

27. ayou82 (3185) | 3 years ago | Of course we can..the first generations lived without it and yes we can.. the only advantage of having a mobile phone is it is making our lives easier and makes things faster than we thought.. i remember my grandma used to tell us stories about future generations and all she said came true ..mankind can be possibly as genius as god as all the gadgets are so fantastic that one human can ever invent.

28. mansha (4580) | 3 years ago | I am living without one. I lost my mobile two years back and never got around to buying another one and I think I much more comfortable without one and do not need one. Life is a lot stress free without it. PIn the begining it was due to lack of funds but now its by choice that I am not going for a cellphone.

30. kevsgirlalways (5758) | 3 years ago | I guess in a way you're right. To some people, mobile phones are a part of their lives already. They spent almost 24 hours a day on the phone, and their phone rings non stop etc. nowadays people don't have landlines anymore because of mobile phones, and with the current technology there are just so many features in a mobile phone which makes people can't part with it even more- camera, music player, radio, web browser etc.
