Prince the praying Dog

My grandmother's dog is named Prince. Prince "says" his prayers with Grandma every night.
Let me tell you their ritual each night before bed. Grandma will go into the bedroom and put on her nightgown. Then she will sit on the side of the bed and reach for her satin bag with her rosary beads in it. When Prince sees her pick up the bag, he will jump up onto the bed, lay down and cross his paws in front of him.
If Grandma doesn't immediately begin to say her Hail Mary...he will nudge her with his nose, squint his eyes and snort at her. As if to say "Get on with it woman" She starts her prayers and as she's murmuring the vespars, he is moving his mouth and nodding his head. When she says amen, he will give a short bark.
I'd love to hear your funny pet story

That's an awesome story. I love it! At the moment I am not thinking of a funny pet story. But since both my daughters are no longer living with me, I have two cats and a dog. Of course they left their pets with me when the left. I am actually getting a break from them at the moment, one cat is on the pc monitor and the dog is sitting behind me in this desk chair. Not too sure where the other cat is at the moment. But usually I have a cat in my lap and one around my neck. I don't think I have any fear of getting too cold this winter with all the fur I have surrounding me!

My mother in law has a long haired white cat named Dweezel. She likes to lay on the back of Mom's rocking chair with her head on mom's shoulder. I don't know how she lays like that, because it looks very uncomfortable to me with her bottom in the air like that. Animals are so funny, and each will develop their own personality if you will let them and encourage them to.

My first cat, Sab, was TOTALLY obsessed with rosery beads. She'd even fish them out of the bag & drag them around. She was to roseries as Rygel is to stringed toys and Oliver is to fluffy puffs.
I remember coming in one day & she was asleep with the rosery tangled up in between her paws.

that is so sweet. Perhaps she knows that saying your Rosary and prayers brings you comfort and peace. Dogs can sense that and she might need some of that comfort. I think that is why my dog likes to sleep snuggled up next to my hubby's back if I will let her. Well, that and she is spoiled pitifully rotten.

That is quite a beautiful story about Prince.. I am certain that the animals notice well what you do when you do it.. I know when I am well..right now I have a cold on me.. I will tell my oldest kity to wake me so I am not late to Mass..every morning she or gracie is there at my pillow meowing or jumping so I am up in plenty of time to have coffee and my hour fast before Mass:)

that's sweet! Grandma is very firm in her beliefs and will not go to bed without saying her prayers. Then if she tries, Prince has a fit. He will bark and jump towards her rosary beads and carry on the most horrible commotion until she picks them up.

Prince is a great dog and such a companion for my grandmother. When she was in the hospital a few weeks ago, she was crying one night and when I asked her what was wrong, she said she just missed him sleeping beside her so much. She was so excited to get home and he was excited to see her. He doesn't eat well when she isn't there.
