For those who have lived or been to Japan, what do you miss most? |
|
Since Japan, especially in the city like TOKYO is the New York city of Asia, which is a city that never sleeps, the convenience store is what I miss a lot these days. The fact that they mostly have anything that you would need day and night.

1. delladidit (326) | 3 years ago | ...Tokyo was ok. I miss surprising the people. I was a strange sight there. I stand 5'7" and have very long blond hair, blue eyes and tiny feet. The people were very gracious. I enjoyed trying to speak japanese and seeing their reactions. ...Places that I miss are Odawarajo (sp?), one of the Shogun castles and Nikko. I didn't get to climb Mt Fuji while I was there because the season was too wet. I took my hiking boots for nothing. China Town in Yokohama was an experience, too. ...Japan was a memorable experience. ...Peace be with you.=(^;^)= Della or Derra, as I was called there!

| 2. marsher (21) | 3 years ago | i have never been Japan before.but i want to realize the living of people there,as the culture trait is seemed to be fascinating .with some political reasons Japan is more mysterious.the character of Japanese is worth studying . without considering these,it is a beautiful country a little romantic with cherry blossom and Fuji.

fortunebee (196) | 3 years ago | Japan is truly and nice and orderly place to live in. If you have the chance in the future, I recommend you try to go everywhere. One day or a week is not enough for you to enjoy the country itself, but you will surely be in need of a lifetime to enjoy the place. (^_^)

| 3. toritaiyo (1) | 3 years ago | I did student exchange, then transfered to a Japanese university, then I graduated and started working. I am back home (visiting family) right now and I know what you mean about the convenience stores.
Also service in general. Japanese service is so much better. I had a reverse-culture-shock experience one time when I was returning home for a holiday. I had a stop in Chicago and so I went to the airport McDonalds. I got to the register and expected to here my "Irashaimase," etc. but the lady behind the counter belted out in a crabby voice "What?" That's when I knew I was back in "the good ole U.S. of A."

fortunebee (196) | 3 years ago | The service is great and there is no confusion because everything or almost everything is orderly in Japan. When I miss eating something Japanese, I usually pay a visit to one of the good Japanese chef owned restaurants here and indulge. However, the 'Irashaimase' that you are saying is a bit different when it is imitated by my fellow Filipinos. I hope to be able to go back there soon. Thanks!

4. errielle (176) | 3 years ago | hi! I stayed in Japan during the Japan-Friendship Program last February 2007. If there are things I miss about Japan, it's how people greet each other in our residence early in the morning. I love saying Ohayougozaimasu!!!=) that's why, when I came back to the Philippines,I always greet my companions with Oyahou even up to now. I also miss "YAKU En" shops! Everytime we don't have anything to do, we just go to Yaku en shops.I also miss their cold weather. It was winter when we went there... and I just miss the peaceful place... I always hoped to go back there. We stayed most of the time in Tokyo, but we also went to Itako City in Ibaraki-Ken, and in Fukui-ken for our homestay.=)
