I usually prepare both turkey and ham, mashed potatoes/gravy, homemade biscuits, candied carrots, mac and cheese, green beans with ham, several deserts and other favorites. My daughters love to come home for Christmas Dinner

Our dinner is usually pretty much the same but I won't know what I'll be cooking until the week before when my Mom will e-mail me with the 'can you bring' list of which she'll tell me what everyone else is bringing and ask me to pick one thing. It's fun, last year I did ceasar salad.

Ok so I am biased but my mum makes the best roast dinner in the country and every year without fail we have turkey for Christmas dinner followed by Pork on Boxing Day, it's a true family tradition which we have done for 36 years so we won't change it, besides Christmas isn't Christmas without the turkey and the pork.

I am cooking a traditional turkey dinner Newfoundland style. But the difference this year is I am doing it on Christmas Eve. Kids want to go to their girlfriends/boyfriends this years. It is making me very sad. I never change my recipe, we have cooked like this all my life. It is a Newfoundland tradition.

I don't cook dinner on Christmas Day, as we 'usually' go to a friend's home. I contribute by taking some 'treats' along. We do have a family dinner for my stepson, daughter in law, and grandson every year, a couple of weeks before Christmas. I've made different things over the years for this. Last year it was roast chicken with stuffing etc., and another year roast beef. I've also made a couple of different kinds of chicken as well. I haven't decided what I'll be doing this year yet. My daughter in law always brings a red and green 'special jello' with whipped cream each year, and a tray full of homemade goodies.
