Canon, 400D or 40D?  | |  The one thing I can remember when holding the canon camera is the word HEAVY.
Their models are quite heavy and with my existing hand strength, holding them for about 15 mins and my hands are already shaking. Without the image stabilizer on, none of my shots after 15 mins are clear due to the movement of my hands when I snap the trigger to take the picture.
The 400D is slightly smaller than the 40D. Comparing the specifications of the two, the 40D has better specs than the 400D
Being new to the DSLR realm, the 400D is highly recommended for beginners.
The simple to use interface and the new CMOS technologies found in most Canon DSLR, it is the best in the market for DSLR.
What I personally do not like about the Canon DSLRs are the pixel per inch resolution of the camera.
I do not know why, but the pixel per inch of the photos taken by the ixus series is 180.
But for the DSLRs, the picture resolution is only 72 pixels per inch.

| | | | | | | | 1.  silvermoonmyst (832) | 3 years ago |  Your camera shake issues could be fixed by a good lense with internal stabalizeation. The 35-150 mm is my personal favorite with IS. Its great little lense and not too expensive. around $350 USD.

The simple 35-150 mm you mentioned cost a whopping $1238 here!
I guess if I were to invest in a DSLR, such a lens will be a necessary upgrade in time to come.
For now, it is beyond my budget.
The kit lens will have to do for practice purposes.
USD$350 is cheap! I wonder if it is worth my while to order it online and get it delivered.

i have been using 300D for a couple of years before i change to 30D....maybe will wait for 50D? see first. The lenses is the most important than the camera itself. If i want to shot in high res i will shot in RAW but the filesize is really BIG. i dont do it in 300D cos it process very slow...30D is very fast. I am not sure about 400D/40D

Had a debate with the photographer I hired, arguing that he did not use the settings right. Cos I love to edit pictures, and I noticed the difference when I opened the shots he took and compared it with mine.:p
50D? Hmm... the 40D just came out not long ago, I think it will be quite a while before the 50D will arrive.
I will try the RAW format the next time I get a chance to see how big a difference it is between the two when taking pictures.
