I think every year it is less and less post cards sent by people by post. I think that ow people congratulate each other online or by phone. I personally haven't sent any christmas cards lately.

I think people send much less Christmas cards today than they used to. I used to get 20 cards some 10 years ago and today I am lucky if I get 5. It is not because I have less friends now or because I am not in good relations any more with those people who were sending me cards before because I am just they stopped sending cards. I kept sending cards to them for several years but I have just gave it up now.

The number keeps swelling mainly because of increasing in population of young people and also increase in purchasing power of the people. Though the email system and internet systems have helped the post office to reduce the mail traffic, when it comes to send tangible stuff like greeting card, gift parcels whereever people cannot reach their nearest and dearest. Of course now the courier companies are sharing the bulk of postal traffic. But I still feel if you take any statistical figure, the mail during christmas through New Years day will always on the increase year after year.

I still get quite a few but my parents get a lot more so it's probably decreasing somewhat through the generations. It just seems more thoughtful receiving a handwritten card/note than a mass email.

I actually send more Christmas cards than I used to, because of the internet! Since I'm online almost all day, and then about 4 hours at night, I have more time to send them by internet, than otherwise!
