How will you be spending Christmas Day? |
| |
| So Christmas means something different to everyone, and is celebrated differently in different cultures. I'd love to know how all you myLotters will be spending your Christmas Day '07! I live in Australia, down in the Summery Southern Hemisphere, and my day will probably consist of: A large party of friends, family and extended family and various people who get invited along. There will be a long outdoor table covered with salads, Christmas ham, meatballs, fruit platters, pasta and potato salad, jugs of water, punch and juice and a big fridge full of beer, wine and spirits. =) Everyone will sit, laugh and chat around the pool (occasionally choosing to swim or, alternatively, being pushed in - much to no-one's dismay but your own =P) Listen to a collection of music and dance (poorly) the day away! Celebrations will go from early afternoon to very late in the evening and the house will be open to everyone to spend the night. Boxing day consists of consuming all the left over food and grog, more laughing and a whole lot of fun. In between all the excitement, we'll be applying big repellent and sunscreen and peeling our Christmas hats (from Christmas crackers, of course) from our sweaty foreheads =P Presents are optional, and we will open then with the whole family in the morning, before the festivities really begin. So how will you be spending your Christmas? With your family? Your partner's? Both? =D And with that: Ho ho ho, merry christmas and a happy new year to all!!! | | hello malyck sounds like you will have a very enjoyable Christmas Day and the food sounds delicious. on Christmas morning, we get up early to be up before the kids get up and then we make coffee and wake up a few minutes and then wake up the boys to let them get up to see what Santa has brought for them this year. lol. everyone in our family will exchange gifts that morning. then after that, we will all get ready and go over to my sister-in-laws house to eat breakfast of country ham, fried eggs, grits, fried potatoes, biscuits, hot cocoa, milk, orange juice or fruit juice or eggnog. then everyone will sit around and eat breakfast, then the dishes are done and the food is put away, then we all exchange gifts there. then after that, some of the family members go to see a movie and the rest of them either hang around for awhile or go on home. then once we get back home that night, we will kick back and finally get to relax. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! | | | | | | |

| | Advance Merry and a Happy New Year too! In our case, its practically similar to yours. However, for this year, there is a big possibility that we will be spending christmas in a relative's place under my father's side. We used to spend christmand there when we were kids but that was a very long time ago. And now that my father is retiring, he wants to spend time with his brothers and sisters for a while then spend some little money for them and we will be going home before new year, because since we were kids, it is a must that we all should be at home when new year comes. | | | | | | |

| | I think that's one of the greatest things about Christmas and New Years - the family traditions and reunions that it brings. It sounds like that should be a fun revisit to a childhood celebration =) I hope that you all have a great time!! | | | |

| | My husband and I kind of celebrate from my holiday (Winter Solstice) to his (Christmas) so I have no idea at what point in our celebration we'll be doing what. :P Since the bank is closed on Christmas, I have it off, so that's a plus. We'll probably wait to do the present thing until then, since Christmas is the holiday that's usually associated with presents. And presents will be lots of fun, since I have a 1 1/2 year old son! :) We don't really deal with our families, but we do sometimes spend time with friends sometime during the winter holiday season. We don't have any concrete plans yet, but we might still wind up seeing friends. | | | | | | |

| | Hehe yup presents and babies is awesome. What amuses me so much is that at his first birthday, my son was far more interested in the wrapping paper than the presents themselves. We'll see how he does with his holiday presents. :P It's neat having ours so liquid since we celebrate two separate holidays at this time of year. It lets us both feel like we get to do what we want, as well as being part of each other's celebrations! And since we have friends that celebrate different holidays, it gets even more fun! We could just celebrate all the time! Oh, great idea for a Christmas plan! Hehe! | | | |

| | That's so the fun of babies, though. Sometimes the wrapping paper makes the present! I have to personalise my paper to its recipient every year - I think it gives it some kind of "special touch", but I may be demented :P My sister loves pretty kind of paper, and frogs, so I generally vary between the two. My mum's obsessed with bubble wrap, so every present is bubblewrapped and then rewrapped with red or ladybug paper. Dad refuses to have a gift that isn't wrapped with news paper and taped with masking tape =P Who am I to disagree. lol. I like the sound of your holiday celebrationary mix. =) It is good that you both get to do your own thing, but together =D I think it's a wonderful plan, then again; I'll take or make any excuse =P | | | |

| | My Christmas day will be warm I hope, because we are driving 18 hours South to Mississippi from New Jersey. We will be with mostly my family but both mine and my husband's children will be there (plus the one we have together). We are very happy about that. We are going to my parents house for the week. There will be loads of food, loads of people and loads of presents. I can't wait to leave and get down there! | | | | | | |

| | Hi,there! I'm not sure about that yet.I went out with my close friends last year and we had a good time. Many people were celebrating and dancing as well as singing. We saw people wear funny Christmas hats and held interesting sticks:) I also had many nice small gifts with me.LOL! I guess this year I would also hang out with friends and maybe we'll watch some fireworks and attend some parties if there're some.I'd like to see how other people celebrate it.I guess the street would be so crowded and there would be many interesting views probably. Thanks for the discussion and Merry Christmas in advance.Have a nice day^_^ | | | | | | |

| | I will be spending christmas with my husband, since he is my only family here in america. I don't have a gift for him yet, its just so hard to give a gift to someone that has everything. I'm thinking of making it special, like cooking something special for him. Or maybe baking him a cake. What do you think? | | | | | | |

| | Hey! Long time no chat! But more onto the subject... I'm actually feeling very Christmassy for once. Usually I have trouble getting into the spirit because my family isn't all that into it. But this year I got the tree up on the 2nd of December (instead of the 22nd) and decorated the whole house. I'm not entirely sure what we'll be doing on christmas day yet, but usually my aunty and uncle and cousins come over to my place for the day (my grandparents already live at my place) and we eat a lot of ham and chicken and junk food and crack jokes while drowning in a pool of sweat - we aren't lucky enough to have a real pool in the vicinity. Present opening is at the start of the day. I love giving gifts to my family that they actually like :) Which may be hard this christmas because I'm on a tight budget... and the day will be finished with staying up late playing games of pool, watching carols (if there are any on) and possibly, to my cousins' dismay, a concert of originals from me. Speaking of originals, I wrote a new song today... but yes, that is my christmas as it has been for as long as I can remember :) Dana | | | | | | |

| | HEYYYYYY! Yes, a way long time; if indeed that is a measurement of time. =P I'm not feeling "Christmassy" as such, but I am in the spirit of celebration, so I suppose it works out in there somehow. Grats on the decorating - I've thought about that on and off and decided against it. I think my main reasoning for that is that I MIGHT be getting a kitten, so I wouldn't want to have her get caught up in it or choke on anything etc. There are always reasons to procrastinate =D It's my birthday on Friday! Alex and I are going to a music festival in Port Macquarie. It should be amazing =) And I haven't camped out in a long while, so that should also be enjoyable. Ham, chicken and junkfood are must-haves, as far as I'm concerned. Not so fond of the pool/sea of sweat to be honest (because oh so many people are). No-one in my immediate family is all that fussed on gifts - not on the surprise element of it, anyway. We seem to straight out ask for what we want, or what others want. We love giving gifts, but we know it's not about a bunch of useless items anymore. I'm getting my sister a knife set and some household appliances before she moves out. For her birthday I gave her an IOU: for me making her dinner and a piece of art for her new place. Face the dismay and sing to your heart's content =) I never seem to write anymore... not in the sense of stories or lyrics anywho... =D Thanks for dropping by! xox | | | |

| | Somehow I already knew about your birthday being on Friday. Freaky... How many years young are you going to be? Music Festival should be awesome. Specially if you're going with Alex :P Speaking of Alex, I haven't talked to him in ages either. Is he coming up Qld way this holidays? Yeah... I might stop filling up your Christmas discussion with other discussions. Talk soon. Dana | | | |

| | Lol you can fill this post with as many unrelated issues as you like. I've been known to do it on various posts (mine and others). Unsure of whether he will be able to come up, although it has always been his intention, but it looks like his mum's changing the pre-existing plans on him so that she can go on a holiday. You'll know he's there if you see him =P | | | |

| | I don't garantee I would see him if he's here. I don't get into town much coz I'm stuck on the alpaca farm. Yay for farms. Only saw him on New Years Eve last time... But oh well, what will happen, will happen. Sheesh Christmas is so close now... And the Tamworth!!! Best week of my year :) And I'm actually gigging there this time. And singing lots of my own songs for once. Man life is awesome. what have you got planned for new year? | | | |
