A couple of years ago I received an email from who I thought was PayPal. It was not and I released information about myself that could have caused me major problems. After contacting PayPal they reminded me they always address their emails to their customers: Dear John Smith, not dear customer. I've been fortunate so far and haven't had any problems. This time of the year is especially risky. Happy Holidays to you.

You are fortunate in that way: it is better this.
But remember with the phishing not joking, there are large criminal organizations behind these emails and their aim is to capture our sensitive data (especially those concerning money) to take what is ours.
I repeat: we must be very careful in these emails and, in doubt, check forever.
