does your boss makes you do his/her personal stuffs/errands? |
| |
| We just wrapped tons of Christmas gift this afternoon and its all my boss's! she arrived this morning followed by her driver carrying a lot of shopping bags and before she went for a meeting, she told us to wrap all those gifts up. we didn't complain because it seldom happens that our boss ask us to do her personal errands and we all enjoyed the gift wrapping and we even suspect that some of the gifts are for us. LOL however, i know some people who are abusive of their authority and make their subordinates do their personal errands everytime! for example, grocery shopping, going to the bank to deposit money, mailing personal letters, even handling calls from credit card companies that they are hiding from (kinda make us liars). some even made their subordinates almost their personal assistant. anyway, so what about you people? do you do your boss's personal errands? | | | | | |

| | That so reminds me of that film Devil Wears Prada! I think it's a damn cheek! and I thought slavery had been abolished. Cheeky (insert expletives here) but what can you do? You can hardly say NO or do it yourself you lazy c*w! They people act like they are gods and expect you to carry out their every wish, with a curtsey or bow! When you'd rather stick two fingers up! Thankfully I have never been in that situation, although I have made cups of tea and coffee for my boss etc, but that's no sweat but I draw the line at shopping for them! | | | | | | |

| | LOL I don't think slavery have been abolished. it still exists everywhere! mostly in factories where laborers don't get enough compensation for their work, and also in the household where household helpers are abused. anyway, yes, what can we do?? we're just their subordinates. and we should follow the rule "obey first before you complain" as long as the task is not impossibly unreasonable. ^__^;; we also make coffees and teas, serve food and snacks but that's normal and somehow official since the boss got a lot of things in his/her hands, so busy that he/she can't take care of her meals. ^__^ | | | |

| | When I used to work I was the boss and I had clients that I cleaned their houses. I had two clients that had me do all their errands. One of them I would go shopping for food, not just a few things, but an actual list of groceries that would cost around $200.00. Also whe would have me go to the bank for her and take out money from her account. She would give me her atm card and code to withdraw money. The nice thing was she trusted me to do this. The difference is I got paid to do these arrands for her, but I guess you would be paid too, since it is in part of your normal day. | | | | | | |

| | you were the boss but you were a "slave" to your clients? what was your work then? ^__^ no, we aren't paid for that kind of job. that's a "helping hand" we extend to our boss. we are paid for the office work we do but not for the personal errands we do for the boss. ^__^ | | | |

| | well since i don't have a car it was always hard for me to do errands but where i used to live all up and down the street by where i worked were restaurants, so I could just walk, a few times when i was going to lunch they'd have me get food for them too. and where do you work to where your boss needs a driver? anyway it wouldn't be that big of deal since i was going that way anyway except i always planed on eating at the restaurant. | | | | | | |

| | I think buying food for the boss has been part of the work of secretaries. since the boss are too busy to go out and do that by himself. that's understandable. I guess a task, like going to bank or doing groceries, will seem unreasonable if the subordinates will have to go out of his way just to do that errand and if the boss is not busy and has a lot of free time and he's just lazy to do it for him. ^__^;; | | | |

| | My boss has me do some personal stuff for her but it's just like taking her mail down to the mailbox and like the other day when I went to lunch she had me get her a book of stamps. It's nothing too outrageous and I don't mind because we are actually friends and she helps me out a lot. | | | | | | |

| | Not anymore! Don't you must HATE that! Even in civil service jobs where it is strictly forbidden for bosses to impose on their subordinates in that manner, they used to do it! How did I get them to stop? Only by retiring. It is a cruel world our there, secret! | | | | | | |

| | My boss wouldn't do that as they are afraid you might find out something that they don't want you to know. But there are times I do things for them that I wonder how they made it this far in life because they sometimes seems so helpless! | | | | | | |

| | Not really. I'd offer sometimes, just to be nice and if they did something nice for me, I'd return the gesture, but I would never let myself get into that. I was always willing, but when it came down to it and I could see them take advantage of me, I wouldn't let it happen again. I was nice and they took advantage so I just had to stop. | | | | | | |

| | that's what's more annoying. when you're so kind and willing to do a favor they will think its for forever and they will ask you anything. in the end, they get abusive. | | | |
