Here is a recipe you can try: --------------------------------------------------- 1 whole garlic. Peel and cut into pieces. Let it cook with butter and a little bit of water to not overheat it. The butter gives a great taste. Pour on vegetable stock or water. Take two tablespoons of flour and mix it with half a glass of cream. Pour it into the soup and cook and stir it about ten minutes. Add some herb salt if needed and your favorite spices. Add some cold pressed vegetable oil when the soup is on the plate and ready to eat, just to not heat the oil too much. - This is optional, but helps you keep healthier and your body will absorb the goodies in the soup better. You can make your own variation of the soup, add some veggies and potatoes or whatever you want..but meat is not good if you have a fever or infection, you need light food to recover faster.

sorry just found this. anyway its great advise. only problem with me is that in spite of loving garlic, it gives me terrible indigestion if i have to much, also it stays on my breathe for days on end even after brushing, etc. but thanks for the advice.

Hi, bunnybon7 I used to eat raw garlic when I was younger but now I have to cook it to be able to digest it without problems. But if you have problems, you might try to eat just a little and eat yogurt together with it, it may be ok.. We are all different and have to test and see what is good for us. Even small amounts of garlic with vegetable food can give relief from cold. If you eat parsley and other green veggies with chlorophyll, it may help to prevent the smell.

Great, I am sure you will like it and feel good after you ate it. We should eat onions often - even when we are ok, just to keep us healthy..

You are welcome, I feel so happy if someone else can experience how much better they feel after eating garlic in some form when they have a cold. Garlic is one of the great gifts we find in the nature.

I hope you wife will be well soon. She could also take some honey and avoid all white sugar. To boost her immunity it helps to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables with carotenoids - red and yellow colors are carotenoids - and add cold pressed oil to her diet. The cabbage soup must be good - it is one of the vegetables that prevent cancer. You could experiment by adding other vegetables to the soup. Broccoli is *very* healthy too.

I also used garlic when I am sick. Usually added into food in larger than normal amounts. In the past I have eaten a raw garlic clove to help with colds and what not. Now that is difficult!

Raw garlic is a special challenge but it is possible to eat it mixt with other foods. I have cut it in small pieces and added it to yoghurt or sourmilk. It is easier to eat and does not burn in your mouth and stomach so much...!:)

You are welcome, it is really yummy, and it will prevent many colds and infections too. This time of the year it could be eaten once a day at least.

That soup actually sounds pretty good, but wow a whole head of garlic. I would be afraid to have horrible breath the rest of the day. I might have to try it sometime when I know I won't be breathing on people.

You could just take half a garlic, if you wish, but when it has been cooked, it is not strong at all and does not smell that much afterwards. You could test and ask someone you know well, if they feel the smell.
