My Wedding Preparation Checklist (Any Suggestions?)  

Yeah, that's a good comment. Most people see the 'bad things' at wedding and they fail to see the good in them. Most couples want everything too perfect thus stopping them from enjoying their day.

It's good to really remember this. We shouldn't allow one mistake to destroy the occasion.

1. I am actually thinking of setting-up a "mini-bridal stage" where the "head table" will be located. In fact, I am looking for pegs how my head table and bridal stage "background" will look like... any ideas? I just want them to be Hispanic (Spanish) looking to match my antique candle holders and red roses centerpieces.

2. I am also planning to serve our guests mini-cocktails while they are waiting for the bride and groom's entrance. This is so because our wedding ceremony will be at 6:30-7:30pm and we still need to travel (around 5 minutes only) to the reception venue. However, I don't know of a notable lite Spanish cocktails. I hope you guys and help me with this as well?

As far as the backdrop, take a look at the place the reception is at. Sometimes places have natural features like fireplaces, picture windows, interesting architecture that naturally look very nice and you need do very little too, even if it means changing where the head table is to take advantage of it. As far as cocktails but something light, if you are going Spanish, what about a punch with Sangria and frut as some of the ingredients it or a mixture of sangria and seltzer water for something sparkling.

Thanks! You have been very helpful. I did some research about sangria; I learned that is a stable Spanish cocktail/wine being served during celebrations.

Just one last question, would you know what lite food I can pair-up with sangria?

Something like the bread with olive oil and herbs being served in French restaurant before you order?

It's amazing that your wedding was organized for only 10 days where I set aside 10 months planning for our wedding :)

I need more ideas from you though....

1. For the wedding invitation, I am looking for a Spanish inspired background; any ideas?

2. Flowers, I want Spanish flowers as well. Our florist suggested Equadorian (hehehe not so sure about the spelling) roses; but they are quite expensive and their buds are big for me. (I am a petite bride you know :)

3. Wedding favor? You know the souvenirs you give to the wedding guests? I am looking for something that is aligned on my wedding theme; something Spanish (Hispanic).

4-6: I am looking for something Hispanic as well.

I'm really thinking of preserving my bouquet (though I'm having second thought because I don't really like flowers; I think i'm also pondering about this because of the wedding thing:)

Thanks for the eating advice. I will really try to eat before our wedding ceremony; especially because my wedding gown is tight-fitting (mermaid-cut). As per my designer, this cut will make me look taller.

I'm trying not to be stressed on details as well but I can't help it because I used to do events in my previous job:)

Finally, we hired a professional photographer. He is kinna expensive so we did not get his superior package (just the regular one); but we will haggle for more inclusion in our package such as free AVP etc. (Wish us luck, we will talk to him next year to finalized everything:)

1. What are the dominant Spanish visuals (objects, patterns etc.) we can use as borders for our wedding invitation? Your comments on the invitation wording inclusions are much appreciated by the way.

2. I'm not really fond of flowers; so I am not familiar with them. If you know of flowers popular in Spain aside from roses, you will help us a lot.

3-5. I hope you can give me more wedding favor ideas with Spanish origin or feel. However, the hand bags and bracelet your suggested are nice!

6. What cake topper will we use that will be aligned to our Spanish-themed wedding? Hoping you can suggest as well.

1. If you are planning to make your own invitation, consider anything light, flowing, simply romantic, nothing like too much gold or extravaganza. try visit this site

I would suggest calla lily or anything orange, if you can't find orange blossoms there. calla lily is as romantic as rose, arrange them together, you'll see what I mean. none of these flowers are specific to Spanish theme, but they fit the purpose. see more of the flowers here http://www.spanishdreamweddings.com/home.htm

3. for cake toppers, I would suggest something different than Spanish theme. the cake baker will add calla lily and roses with orange flowers to your cake decoration. it will still have the theme you want, but won't make it look too heavy on the ethnical side.

4. I'm not sure about favors and gifts. usually if you want to be that specific and your budget is flexible, go with authentic imports from Spain. It's pretty simple concept, everybody drinks, right? What about Spanish wine set, for bridal party gifts. In miniature bottles, they are perfect as favors per couple. Doesn't have to be something big and cost you a bundle for shipping, as long as it reminds people about your wedding. Browse online, it would help you get ideas.

BTW I'm not a wedding planner and most weddings I am involved in are not heavy on ethnicity. I can still see the traditions, from their choices of ceremony, gown, music, flow of reception, but not necessarily every single thing like you are trying to do. you can explore the ideas from the links above and modify them. hope this helps make your dream wedding come true. congrats!
