Dear friends what is the importance of watch and calender in your life. How do watch and calender help you plan your day to day life. Do you feel dependent on watch and calender or you can make do without both the things. Please share your views and experience with me. Thanks in advance.

I don't look at the calendar at all. I have it, but I remember everything without calendar.
I remember all my meetings and dues....

HI DEEPAK,
I have a strange connection with both. Nowadays calender has become almost obsolete and watches which had been in great fashion previously in not a in thing anymore, except for some digital, expensive brands. I do not see any problem though. We could manage everything through our cell phones, even the alarm thing. Good things do come in small packages. With the era itself, I have gone digital and have somehow managed to keep myself up to date with the computer, mobile and others gadgets. I find it no harm, we have to change with the time, isn't it!
However, both calender and wall clocks make me nostalgic. When I go to my grand parents house, I just love to watch the old calenders hung one over the other with all memos written on it randomly. And how can I forget the grand father's clock - the long pendulum still hanging to and fro!

Yes, I am pretty good at remembering dates. So I hardly miss any precious occasions. I have also marked the memorable days on my calender in mobile, which makes me alert in case I forget. Time is very important and we must give value to it and try to give the best to use it qualitatively. For time and tide once go never return!

I completely share your views. I also cannot move without my watch or checking the calender.
Calender might have become obsolete...but this in any way does not lessen its importance. Only difference you have the liberaty of viewing a calender in your cell phone and same is case while referring to watch. You can check the time through your mobile watch. The emphasise was...whether one is particular about date and time or not...how rigrously or scruplously one follows it, may be I would have added few more lines in my post just to make it more elaborate. I try to be punctual and discipline myself.
Watching calender (either the conventional one or the mobile one) reminds me of important events like birthdays, wedding anniversaries and other assignements etc.
Excellent response by you. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++rated.

THe way I would like it, calendars and watches would have only a relative importance in people's life. HOwever reality is different and we depend on those each day.
I can tell you this, however, when I am not working I don't pay much attention to either. I like to feel free and if I ran it's because I want to , not because I have to , because I am being commanded by those two things :) Sometimes I"m not even really sure of what day it is when I"m not working, and I like it that way. Of course then I'm back to real life and things change .. pity :)

I don't own a watch but I do use my cellphone to tell the time and keep track of where I am suppose to be certain times of the day. I have a daily calendar that I use to note important things to be done on each day.

I can't go on life without a watch (or clock) and calendar, and I believe this is so for most people. Without the means to tell the date and time, I will feel lost and disoriented. I will lose sense of the perspective of time, I won't be able to keep time and be on time for appointments, nor even arrange any appointment with anyone to begin with. I also won't be able to plan for things if I do not have a calendar to arrange a time schedule for any task. Try isolating yourself somewhere for a period, and take away everything that can give you a sense of date and time, and after a while you will lose your orientation with respect to which day of the week it is, and whether it is time that you have to carry out certain mundane tasks like eating and sleeping.

A watch and a calendar are very high on my lists of needs. I work in a nursing home as an LPN, and I have to know the time constantly. The residents need their medications and treatments on schedule. As for the calendar, I write down any meetings that I will be attending, or appointments that either the kids or I will have to be punctual with. With more classes to attend in January, I really need to be organized. I use a small day planner, which also has a view of each month. I call it my Bible. I would be lost without it. It also fits right in my purse, and I make copies of the month ahead to put on the refrigerator for the kids.

Thanks for sharing, I agree with your views. Your job definitely requires that you must know the exact time and date so as not to slip in any engagement. Nice to know that you try your best to be organised.

Hi Deepak,
Good observation deepak.....we are so used to watches and calenders that we have taken them as granted and don't realise how difficult will become everything if suddenly we will not have any watches to see time and any calenders to plan things. If some day my alarm clock will not ring at 5 am in the morning, my whole day will be ruined.....I will be late for everything.....whole day will be full of tension and frustration.....and if clock will not show 5 pm in the evening I think I will have to sleep in the office....lol... and without calender we can go back to
2000BC.......LOL , no sundays, no holidays, no birthdays, no annivarssarys, no festivals.....oh my God.......Deepak, thanks for reminding us importance of these minor things...Thanks to those who worked hard to make watches and calenders. Can't imagine this world without them. Have a nice day.

Hi! Dear!
I quite agree with your observations. Me too cannot be without watch (may be watch in mobile). I also use alarm for waking myself up at 5.30 a.m.., otherwise...everything will be in soup. I just cannot be without watch, when leaving my house and I also keep looking at calender for important assigenments, birthdays and anniversaries (now a days...mobile calender is also used). You are right...that we must be thankful to the persons who invented watch and caldner for mankind.
Kuch kahanay ko bheja Mithra ka liyie....LOL!

For me, it all depends on the day of week that it is. I change up the most on Sundays. As long as I know the day of the week and I do not have any major appointment coming up, I do not need to know the date all the time.
I have to know what time it is. Especially, when I leave the house. If I do not have my watch or something displaying the time, I might as well be naked. That is how out of it I feel. I hate asking people what time it is.
There are many times though, when I will show up at an appointment and not know the date. I will have to ask if I am filling out paperwork and I feel so dumb. I will keep telling myself before the appointment. It is next Tuesday or Wednesday, then when the day finally comes, I don't remember the date.

Hi Deepak! Time Management is very important to me. I like to plan and get things done within the time limit. But I do not use a 'calender'or a 'watch'. Not that I do not like wearing a watch but unfortunately I am allergetic to metals and have not found the watch as an absolute necessity (I can view the time in my mobile as well, can't I?). Speaking of Calender I normally use my mobile to remind me of appointments and important dates or use the Organizer. Inshort, I need to manage my time and day but find the calender and wach as outdated devises to be used for it.

I agree with your views!
But I did not say that do you wear a watch....keeping a watch or seeing a watch could be in any form...it need not be in form of a wrist watch. You do see watch...but in your mobile, so to know the exact time...becomes imortant for you. You use your mobile calender for your convenience...but you cannot organise things without watch (read time) or calender (read date).
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day!

its just so hard to keep track of time without a watch especially when i have class, if i won't take note of time, sometimes i would consume one class period on one subject matter instead of the expected coverage :-) it would also be equally hard to plan out without a calendar... i even have both time and current date on my watch :-)
