The makers and investors wanted to see if the OLPC computer would really fly and engage children or be a waste of time and money that could be better spent elsewhere. * One of the creators of the program gave it to his son with out explaining the inner workings of the computer or anything, he wanted to see if the boy could figure out how to run it for himself. * The test drive worked.
