It pays to be nice...

Ok... so you might have a hard time winning the show without backstabbing a few people, but I think this survivor seasons shows that it pays to be nice.
Denise and James were both paid for being nice! Denise was one of the top 3 voted by the fans. James was voted the fav b/c he was nice! The other two up for fav were PG (who wasn't really nice but also wasn't really mean either). The point is, these people may not have won the million dollars, but they are going home with a sense of pride. People are recognizing them and happy to see them. People actually like them and would probably be willing to pay them for events and such. Since they are the fan favs, TV shows will ask them for interviews and appearances more than the others.
So what would you do, assuming you are a nice person. Would you rather be shown as a backstabbing person who won (or almost won) a million dollars? Or would you rather be the nice person that all the fans love?

To be honest, I would of rather seen Denise win the million. She was the most honest, nicest, hardest-working person in the group. I was a lil upset that she was voted out. I would of voted out Courtney. I'm no backstabber..period. I would be the nice person that e1 will remember after all the glory has faded.

I agree with you. When it got to the final 5, I was rooting for Denise, and it was that stupid egg-eating that cost her again.

Yep I agree. Denise was the best of the 4 and how she managed to put up with those 3 for so long amazes me! I knew they wouldn't keep her b/c every single person on the jury would probably have voted for her. That was awful that Amanda said she wouldn't put her name down. It's one thing to say "I'm undecided" but another to say you won't put her name down.

James and Denise were two of my favorites this season. James was not only a nice guy,but what a hunk.I'm really glad they decided to give Denise that extra money. I know her family can really use it.

They could both probably really use that extra money. What's cool about James is that he is now a pretty popular guy, and it seems like he will have a lot of good things coming his way in the near future.

Yep I think James will do well now. I can tell he really is even a little embarrased about the fame which is sweet.
Denise will probably get a job after the show aired on Sunday. People will feel bad that a school would dump her for such a dumb reason as "being too recognizable". I'm hoping someone from her town was watching and offers her a better job.

I would probably play the game as honest as I could, but I know that at times you have to lie to some people in the game of survivor in order to stay in the game....history has proven that.
I am glad that James won the money. I as tired of Denise and her sob stories. She chose to go in the game and that was the risk she took, coming home and her job not being there. There are many people in this world in much worse circumstances than Denise. The only reason she got the $$ from the producer is because she kept talking about how bad her situation was.
I wish that Denise would have used her brain a bit during the show. She could have went with PG and Eric and the 3 of them would be in the final 3. My guess is she didn't switch because she would never win against Eric.

I guess it depends on the kind of lies. Like I wouldn't say "I won't write your name down". I might say "I'm still considering who I will vote for", but I would never make false promises. It's one thing to lead people on, quite another to lie to their face.
Well I always thought you would work out the job situation with your boss before you left for the show. I still do feel bad for her b/c I feel like she was expecting no problem going back to work. I think Denise was too trusting. She really thought Amanda was going to keep her around until the end. That's the problem with these nice people, they trust too much.

Yeah i was really mad at Amanda at that point and was really hoping everyone would not vote for her. You have to wonder who did vote for her. Did they reveal the final votes? I don't recall. I loved when Todd broke the face out during the last tribal council and said "ouch" b/c of Amanda saying she DIDN'T have denises back. I think that's why he won, even though he lied, he was open that he would do what it takes to win.

I was very surprised that Amanda did write down Denise's name. All she had to do was write down courtney and she would have kept her promise. I do agree that that was nasty. She did say I won't write down your name and she did write it down. At least Todd said, I lied to everyone and that was my gameplay!

I think it is hard to win the game without backstabbing and deceit. For that reason I think I would have to go for the fan favorite because even for a million dollars I wouldn't want the world to think I was a horrible person sometimes you just need to do what is right even if it costs you in the end.

Yes groomtobe, it does happen sometimes that a nice person wins. But like you said they have to dominate! You can't just be nice and decent at the game. You have to be nice and excellent.
Yeah whywiki, winning a million would not feel as great if you had to constantly answer questions about how you backstabbed others. You know every interviewer will bring it up. "How did you feel when you told Denise you wouldn't write her name down???" That would stink.

I cannot remember his name at the moment, but a guy won a few seasons ago by just dominating. He was a really nice guy in my opinion, but kept winning immunity so he never had to worry about turning on someone.

In my thought, become a player which all the fans love is better than win the million dollars, because the firse one is in the spirit and the ather is in the material.it is no Need that we have so much money, just for we can stay down in the world is enough.
