1. spiderlizard22 (2320) | 2 years ago | I say Leopard geckos because they can live in a ten gallon terrarium but it is best to put them in a twenty gallon terrarium. They eat only insects. They don't require much space if you live in an apartment. They don't like being handled though.

2. Blazing_Scotty (17) | 2 years ago | I like chameleons, they just looks awesome and in my experience they dont mind being handled, but i have to admit they require alot of care and are very expensive (setup wise). So as a best pet to own i would say leopard geckos as they are easy to keep, dont require alot of space and are reasonably cheap.

3. otshock (205) | 2 years ago | I have a pair of bearded dragons, and I have to say that I think they are at least one of the best. They like to be held and fed by hand. You can pet them and they seem to like it. Another plus, for me, is that they don't grow too big. (Full grown, they are only about 20 inches from the nose to the tip of their tail.) I enjoy them very much. ~Ginger~

otshock (205) | 2 years ago | Yeah, it sounds pretty impressive. But, the dogs, guinea pig, 1 snake and 2 of the hedgehogs belong to my step-daughter, her hubby and my three year old grand-daughter. 1 hedgehog and 1 snake belong to my fifteen year old daughter. The bearded dragons are mine. And 3 of the snakes live at our music store. One of them is mine, and the other 2 are my hubby's. So the work is not all on one person. ~Ginger~

| Hazie_Dazie (18) | 1 year ago | The bearded dragons are the best way to go even if they need big cages. They are fun to handle and majority of them are friendly. I would get some but I really cant afford one right now...

4. barehugs (3884) | 2 years ago | I live in South Texas USA and we have a small lizard like creature we call a Skink. They eat small insects and live on a wall or in a garage, around stones etc. They never come inside a house. Not long ago, I was in the Garage and when I reached for the door this tiny skink jumped onto my hand. He was about 5 inches long and brown to match the door. I walked very carefully around to show him to my wife. I was wearing a green shirt and as I stood there with him on the back of my hand he began to change color. The color green began on his legs and quite quickly spread to his whole body. As soon as he had turned completely green he jumped to my shirt and ran up to my shoulder and then jumped off and ran up the wall of the house.

5. michelyn (595) | 2 years ago | I absolutely love leopard geckos, but they can be a lot of work and although some can get used to being held, they aren't naturally happy to be held. My gecko died 6 years ago. I cried horribly, so the kids, my husband and I gave him a funeral and buried him in our backyard. The next lizard I'm getting is a Uromastyx. They are very laid back, friendly and vegetarians. They are also not quite as fragile as leopard geckos can be.

| 6. Yexalen (2) | 2 years ago | Freindliest/Tolerate being handled
The two that are most common and such are the Leopard gecko and Bearded Dragon both are very friendly.
My favorite however in the discussion of "best" lizard would be the Chinese Water Dragon

| 7. Wylkeridge (4) | 6 months ago | I've had 3 kinds in my life time, Anole's, Iguana, and a Bearded Dragon. The Iguana was fun but temperamental. The Anole's were more for watching in my opinion. The Beardie is fun. He's a lot more willing to be picked up, will eat from my hand, and my 3 young children love to watch him or pet him while I hold him. I have three dogs and they ignore him completely so he fits with us perfectly.
