Omg!!! my house could have just burned down!

i was just boiling some ribs so i could season for tonights dinner,and i had to move the pan so i used a dish town because the pot is all medel. well when i was done i layed the dish towl on the counter beside the stove NOT ON THE STOVE~
but beside it...and somehow it still caught fire. and i herd some crackling noises and like a tik and i rat to the kitchen. the front of my microwave its on fire~! talking about a f~cking heart attack!~!! well yeah so i put it out.. threw the microwave away. i need to work on getitng pots and pans wih the plastic haldes so i dont need dish rags:(....wow that was scary.. anything like this ever happen to you?

Yes, well once I tried one of those pans that you can bake in on the stove top, and the food caught file. Yes, we had a fire extinguisher in the kitchen, but when the mess was cleaned up, my next response was to yank that stove right out of the kitchen and replace it with a convection cooktop, which is in my view much safer. That was many years ago, and ever since then, in every home we've had, I have removed the oven and range and replaced them with safer and higher tech cooking methods.
Oh, yes, and I use silicon potholders instead of dish towels. No steam burns from those puppies.
