Recycling Christmas paper

I'm not advocating what my mother used to do, which is to take each piece of Christmas wrapping paper and see if it was still in a condition that could be used for another year. But I would like to suggest - or see if other people already do this - that we recycle the Christmas paper we've used for wrapping, rather than just throwing it in the rubbish. It only takes a few minutes out of our time, and it means that another lot of paper doesn't go back into the ground.
Can I suggest too, that we stop using that shiny paper that's fairly popular? It's not recyclable, and is a real waste.

I used to save each usable piece of wrapping paper but now I don't bother with paper at all

the wrapping paper is usually ripped off and wrinkled in our house, i don't reuse it, but i reuse christmas bags and gift tags. i make gift tags out of old christmas cards, and sometimes i reuse the tissue paper and i always reuse bows, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
