New Years Eve Party!! Music~Music~Music! | | | | I have to DJ a New Years Eve Party for the Apt. Complex where I live. I do the DJ thing a lot for small groups. I have about 1,500 CDs that I have compiled myself so I can appeal to almost any group and any taste. Give me some ideas of what kind of music you would like to hear on New Years Eve. I mean besides the required Auld Lang Syne at Midnight. The ages here run from mid 30s to almost 90. | | | | | | | | | | Video Game Party at Home The easiest event you can have, just call 877.Hey-MadDog www.MadDogParty.com

| | My taste in music would undoubtedly be far too tame for today's crow...I still like Enya! But my all-time favorite New Year's Eve "single" is the lead song from Serah's Flight of the Stork (with the same name), which can be heard here: http://cdbaby.com/cd/serah88 It may not be a crowd pleaser, but although it came out in 1988 it still pleases me. | | | | | | | Adoniah (4166)

| | Well, that is one I do not have in my collection, but maybe I should. Remember the age range I have to cater to. Thanks for a new one!! | | | | KrazyKlingon (3288)

| | The thing about cdbaby.com is that they only sell CD's released by unsigned & indie musicians. | | | | Adoniah (4166)

| | Not being very knowledgeable about music, I don't know what you mean by and "indie" musician. Should I have copied the yahoo link instead? http://shopping.yahoo.com... It is just that that one is so much longer! I bought my CD at a regualr music store, but remember folks, that was back in 1988. | | | | Adoniah (4166)

| | Don't let anyone pick on you about your music. No one likes my taste in music either. But I do have the advantage of looking cool when I want to because I do the DJ thing I have everything under the sun except Rap.(And Opera yuck). I draw the line there. Besides I do not get any requests for Rap. Anyway I can pull out just about anything anyone calls cool in a matter of minutes and set it spinning. Whether I like it or not. | | | | | | | Video Game Party at Home The easiest event you can have, just call 877.Hey-MadDog www.MadDogParty.com | add comment | | | |

| | What I usually do is start out with music for the older crowd, because they arrive early and leave early. I play the Hip Hop and Rock and Roll later for the younger crowd who tend to last the whole evening and they also tend to dance more. Every once in awhile I slip in something to get everyone laughing like something from the turn of the century and there is a prize for the couple who manages to do the most authentic dance to it. | | | | irishmist (2752)

| | Well, for the younger ones the current music will probably work, at least for some of them. For the oldest in the group I'd recommend stuff by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, and other artist who sing the old standards plus some big band sounds if you have them. For most everyone else you can't go wrong if you throw in some fifties rock, lots of sixties - the British Invasion, Mo-Town, stuff like that, some seventies through nineties. A nice mix of classic rock and "bubble-gum", a little country thrown in, both old and new, but not too much. Since there aren't many real young people and there are some rather older folks, I'd avoid heavy metal and rap pretty much; a little is probably OK, but don't overdo. Happy New Year! | | Bubble gum was banned from here 2 years ago but believe it or not we do end with a little heavey metal but NO rap. I do a lot of Mo- Town they like to dance to that. I am going to have to dig out old blue eyes and dust him off. I actually have him on a bunch of vinyl. | | | | | | | Paint Your Own Pottery Pottery Painting,Birthday Parties, 6 days/week, Cumming, Georgia uniquelyinspired.net | add comment | | | |
