We get TCM so we did watch the old black and white movie, and also the new one and it seems that they are a bit different. In the old movie, everyone got married even the plain one who was more interested in playing the piano than in meeting boys. I did find the new version better in showing that the father had a farm and that the house overlooked the barn yard and it showed how people acted in those days and that when a man only had daughters, they did not inherit the property when he died, so they had to get married off and having a large dowry was better. The old one was very romantic and the new one was rare also in that everyone could see it, unless many of the films nowadays. So what movie did you like the best? Oh did it compare favorably to the book or did the put in things that were not in it or kept things out that should have made it clearer?

The book was by Jane Austin, and she also write "Sense and Sensibility, and Emma." She was the romance author of her day. You will like both, I do, but the new one the best. I hope to get it in DVD but since it is in Blue Ray, and as I want the high definition version, I might have to get a Playstation 3 to play it on, and I do not play games. I am trying to build up my high definition movies.

In almost all cases I like the book best, then the older movie, then the newer ones least. There are a few exceptions. Recently, we saw a movie that was actually better than the book, but I cannot remember at the moment which one it was.

It usually is the case. I have not read the book Pride and Prejudice for some time, and I find in most cases the book is better, but in this case, they only left out the non essential parts in the movie while in other books I have read they left out quite a bit.

To me the newer version is better, it is an improvement from the older movie.Things are so much better now and they make so many improvements, it makes you almost wonder if it is the same old movie..I noticed in lots of the older movies they have redone them and put them in color and they have also changed them for the better...I still enjoy the old movies anyway, they are different and untouched, and i do like old movies...

I like the newer version, but I do like old movies. The newer version is more historically accurate.
