Something's got to give and it isn't going to be me

As much as I love my cats, I'm still very frustrated in having to clean poo off the rug twice today. The culprit is Waffles. She always used to use the litter box until recently. She's become even more of a scaredy cat, looking both ways for Mimi before she leaves her bedroom refuge. Lately, her favorite place to poop is on the rug in my bedroom. I've become so angry with Waffles that I yelled "bad girl" at her, like that's going to help. Both cats are separated, but sometimes accidentally encounter each other. When that happens, Mimi screams and growls at Waffles before running to the sunporch. I sometimes think that Mimi's "bark" is worse than her bite, but can't reassure Waffles of that, unfortunately. It's the pooping that frustrates me the most.

Cats don't adapt well to change. Try putting out different litter boxes. Waffles may not want to go behind Mimi and if she goes in the box, it smells like her and Waffles may not want to use it after she has gotten out. I'd also suggest a vet visit since Waffles is doing something out of his normal realm.

I think you have two fair options here. You're either going to have to lock Waffles in a different area of the house, or you can put a litter box where she seems to be going the most. Oh, there might be another solution. Have you tried a covered litter box? Maybe she might feel more secure if she can be sure Mimi can't sneak up on her when she's taking care of business. Just a thought, might be worth a try. Hate to see you have to confine Waffles because your other cat is being a bully and a brat. Maybe you could put mimi in time out.

Mimi is certainly a bully and always picks on Waffles. I like your idea of putting in a covered litter box, even though that would become litter box #4. (One litter box is in the kitchen, another is in the sunporch, and another is in the spare room that Mimi uses for eating and pooing.) However, if issues between Mimi and Waffles aren't resolved soon, I will resort to putting in a covered litter box. Thank you for the suggestion!

My suggestion would be to possibly put a litter box in the bedroom where Waffles is. It may be that she doesn't want to come out to use the litter box and risk an encounter with Mimi. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I think that maybe you should put another litter box in your room where the cat keeps pooping on the rug.
