Hey! can I get a little privacy here?

When nature calls and I have to use the privy...it is a phenomenal thing but I become the most important celebrity!
First the daughter comes in wanting this or that - and all I can offer her, of course, is what I am presently occupied with - ewe gross.
meanwhile she neglects to close the door behind her and in comes the cat -
the cat pounces up to the counter and stares at me... she is begging for her head to be rubbed.
now the dog gets to thinking she is missing out on something and wanders in - she sits at my feet giving me the puppy dog eyes, shifting her weight from one front paw to the next in anxious anticipation for???? something... then gives her whine of poor me excuses....
Everyone wants something from me when I am simply trying to take a few moments out for myself and make my daily constitution.
How do you find time to do the "little things" that are so necessary in all of our lives, but, to do it ALONE! without interruption....

LOL - I'm laughing so hard I'm crying right now. We had 2 grandchildren, 2 and 5, here for 4 days and during that time I found myself 'holding it' until late late hours or very very early morning just because of the fact that I knew the second I went even towards the privy I was going to be followed and bombarded with questions - the 2 year old usually ended up in the room with me while the 5 year old would stand outside the door knocking and talking so I couldn't 'take care of business'. I celebrated yesterday going at least 10 times and not being interrupted once but then instantly felt badly as I miss them already.

LOL - my dad took the newspaper and said he was 'going to the library' :( man never set foot in a real library but did all his reading in the bathroom.

hehe, isn't that always the way?
you wouldn't think that using the restroom would require concentration - but goodness withall the interuption it is difficult to get business done!
my father used to grab a book and say he was going to meditate - no one disturb him!

Wow, I didn't think that'll be an issue in a household.. :) Though, I suggest training them to be a bit understanding with putting a "do not disturb" note outside the door (be it the bathroom or bedroom). At first it may be difficult, but I guess they'll learn how to deal with it.. unless the matter is really of high urgency.. lol

i can really understand how you feel... even though i am not a mother yet and i only live with my hubby, but i am guilty of doing that to my mum when i am still a child and now i know how annoying it can be... :-) i wouldn't like it as well when my hubby disturbs me when i am 'busy' in the restroom... :-) may be try to lock the bathroom door when you are inside might helps... good luck... :-)

You wait until they all grow up and move away from home!! That is when I finally got to use the bathroom without company....and be on the phone without interuption! Seems like the potty and phone are people magnets! (and pets)..there will be the day when you do get some privacy!

This sounds so formiliar, I guess a lot of people experience this.
I do not have kids of my own, but my kid thinks it's neccesairy to run into the restroom when I'm trying to use it and she will not come out; no matter how hard I try. Sometimes it takes so long the only option is to leave her there (I know.. I shouldn't give in but cats are stubborn creatures :P she won't listen anyway).
I agree with some of the previous responses: make sure all other living things in your house are occupied; this however is hard to realize when you really got to go.
A little sign on the restroom with (I'm busy!) might be a good idea too :)
Don't respond to anything or anyone and take your time, take a deep breath and waitte for the peace and silence to return :)

LOL That is the story of my life. It seems that the kids always needed me when I was "busy" Now the kids are grown and the phone always rings when I am "busy". No privacy for a mother. . LOL

I can relate. My daughter thinks she need to come in and talk to me while I'm using the restroom or taking a shower. Then my hubby will come in and want to tell me something or hand me the phone with someone on it. Ahh!
It would be so nice to have just 3 minutes of privacy while using the restroom.
