My surgery could happen in as little as three weeks!

As some of you know, I have been working toward having gastric bypass surgery. Well, today, I had the second appointment with the dietitian, and it went really well. I took the required test to show that I knew what was going to be expected of me after surgery, and I ACED it! Woooohooooo! The dietitian was very happy with my food records, my weight loss, and also with the fact that I am at least trying to incorporate some exercise into my every day routine. AND....come to find out, even though he didn't have the results of my last two tests (physical and upper endoscopy), the surgeon had already signed off on the paper for me to have the surgery. Hopefully I will find out for sure next week whether it has been bumped up or not. The nurse that does the scheduling seems to think that it will happen very soon. It takes two weeks for my insurance to approve it after the request is submitted. So I might actually get my surgery for my birthday (or sooner) next month! Keep your fingers crossed my friends. Hugs to all!

Oh this is wonderful news Katlady...I know you had a lot of go aheads, then stops again, as you were originally supposed to have it before Thanksgiving weren't you, if I remember?? So it's good news that you finally will be scheduled for the surgery, and the sooner the better to have it then all behind you. My prayers go to you and will keep my fingers crossed that you get good news soon that you can have it done finally. ((((hugs))))

Good for you. I do not know much about gastric bypass surgery, and what it is for. It must be a relief to know that you will be getting it. I hope it is soon and you are not bumped to a later date. I guess the sooner is the better and I do hope you have a speedy recovery.

My heart skipped a bit there Katlady. Best of luck with the surgery. Stay strong and stay healthy both on the way to the event, and after the procedure is done.

Hi hon! Good to hear from you my friend. I think I'm going to have to buy a few more memory cards for my camera so that I don't overload my poor computer with pictures. Believe me, I intend to have LOTS of them taken. That will be one time that I'm NOT camera shy. LOL! Hugs to you hon, and thanks so much for the encouragement.

I am so excited for you. I know the wait can be horrendous, but it can be exciting also. I had mine done August 4, 2003. So, I know what you are going though. I was pacing the floors. This is a life journey. It will have wonderful results. Both physically and mentally. I never knew how much I needed to change both ways until the surgery was done. You will do great. The energy that you will have will be amazing. You will be able to shop in regular clothing department stores in a regular department. I am so excited for you! (((HUGS)))

I can't wait! To be able to buy non plus size clothes will be so amazing! A friend of mine actually has a bunch of practically new clothes in all the sizes I will need for when I'm in the process of losing the weight, so that will be like shopping for me right there. LOL! Thanks so much hon. (((((BIG HUGS))))) right back to you.

That is so exciting! I'm getting all nervous for you, and I'm not having the surgery! Are you going to have enough support to take care of you while you recover? Because I remember being a kid. I wasn't as much help to my parents as I thought. : )

I think hubby is taking that first week off to take care of me, and my best friend lives only four blocks away and she has said that she will be here for me too. Plus several members of my church know about it, so I'm sure there won't be a shortage of supporters and care givers for me. I wasn't a lot of help to my parents either as a kid, so you're not alone in that one hon. LOL

I'm not the biggest fan of surgery myself...not that you could tell by the way I'm acting about this one. LOL! But I'm very ready for this step. Hopefully it will be worth it and the pain in my hips will at least diminish. Thanks hon. Hugs!
