Going to the movies when your depressed does it make you feel better?

I do not go to movies that often, only once in a blue moon and there is none right now. I do find that watching a romantic comedy or one of those Christmas girl meets man of her dreams who happens to have a son or daughter and is a widower type movies on TV that I feel much better. This is where escapism helps as you see them fall in love, and either putting up the decorations or ride off in a horse and sleigh no less. It does not matter if the same movie is on year after year, and you recite the lines by memory, it makes Christmas and New Years and wondering what you are going to do, whose house you will be visiting, whether your family will spend Christmas and OR New Years, whether there is time to make everything a little easier.

Well it's certainly a distraction. When I'm feeling down it's a good way of getting out of the house and doing something without having to worry about interacting with people. It reminds you that life goes on and it gives you a break from your problems. Plus I like the popcorn!*lol*

i like going to the movies but i cant afford it anymore. its so expensive and im broke

I don't go to the movie theater because I hate it when people talk during the movie and I'm short and have the worse luck with tall people sitting in front of me. But when I am down I do just stay in and have a movie night with all those movies that are guarenteed to lift my spirits. It does help.
