Making some more dog treats today |
| |
| I made a few batches of homemade dog treats awhile back and the dogs loved them. I decided that I am going to make them some more today. I am going to make some chicken ones and maybe another batch of cheesy garlic or peanut butter one. These dogs are so spoiled. Do your dogs get any homemade treats? | | | | | |

| | My dogs favorite is the Cheesy garlic ones. They are actually fairly easy to make. I even see homemade dog treats on eBay, and was thinking about selling them too. Cheesy Garlic Dog Treats 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 1 1/4 cups shredded shredded cheddar cheese 1 stick butter 1 tsp minced garlic pinch of salt milk Let cheese warm to room temperature. Cream cheese with softened butter, garlic, salt and flour. Add enough milk to form a ball. Chill for 1/2 hour. Roll onto floured board and cut into shapes. Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until slightly brown and firm | | | |

| | Thank you so much LilyBug. I just sent the recipe to my e-mail address so I can print it out and try to make some for myself. Where did you get this recipe at? How do you add the chicken variation into it? Do you use chicken broth? | | | |

| | The one I gave you is one that my grandma gave my mom several years ago. I don't know where she got it. Chicken treats 2 cups cooked chicken or turkey -- cut up 2 cloves garlic 4 teaspoons grated cheese 1 tablespoon parsley -- freshly chopped 2 egg 2 cups whole wheat flour 2 tablespoons brewer's yeast 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Combine meat, garlic, cheese, parsley and mix well. Beat the eggs in a bowl and pour over meat mixture. Add the flour, yeast, and oil. Stir until thoroughly mixed and all ingredients are coated. Drop into small lumps onto ungreased cookie sheet. Cook in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes, until brown and firm. Store in refrigerator. | | | |

| | Lily, No, I never did get around to making any of these treats. We have switched our dogs to a more all natural food though it's called Nutro. Well Nutro makes a dog treat as well and we have been buying them. Our dogs seem to respond well to both the dog food and the treats. One of these days when I get more time, I will have to try and make some. I printed out the receipe. Thanks again! | | | |
