This isnt necessarily a Man vs Woman discussion, but Im much more handy than my hubby! He kinda reminds me of Tim the toolman Taylor :) Not joking..everytime he picks up a power tool Im afraid he might hurt himself..lol...When it comes to most household things Im the Woman to go too...if its plumbing, electrical, wood working, or just plain assembling something Im pretty good at it. I credit my Mother who was a hard working single Mom who remodled our house and added an addition even. I can drywall, plaster, paint..LOL...Not saying I do all of it, I do let him try most of the time, but when it gets right down to it I have to let him think that the way he is supposed to fix something is his idea...sad but true...What about you...Who is the fix it person in your household?

I'm actually the handy one of my relationship. I've fixed things from beds to closet doors. I love working with my hands.

My partner already replied to this,so I'm just going to add my two cents. I think we're both pretty handy. When I'm not with her, I do what I have to do. I grew up running around with guys when I was younger, so I grew up building things. I helped build the addition to our house when I was about five. I may not have been great, but it gave me great experience. Since then, I've helped build other things. If I see something small that I know can be fixed, I'll break out the tools and do it. Doesn't bother me, because after all, it has to be done, and if I don't do it, who will. It just seems, she takes over the job more than I do, which is fine by me, I don't complain.

Well at least you admit that you might not be great at it..lol..Thats more than my hubby will ever admit. And its good of you to not feel insecure if your girl takes over and is just as handy. I think my hubby feels a bit insecure about being unhandy sometimes..I try and let him do it first or at least offer him the option...unless its electrical..lol...he cant touch anything with wires anymore. Thanks for the reply though :)

It depends on what needs to be done. If it's in the house he's hopeless...doesn't matter if it's as simple as fixing the blanket on the bed or as big as changing a leaky faucet (we've yet to attempt anything bigger than that together since this isn't our house and our last one was a rental but he's already stated he's "not a carpenter or electrician") But I know basic home electrical work and construction(was among the first girls to take concrete/electical/construction class in high school). My ex hubby taught me a lot about plumbing and the rest I "learned" from all the home improvement shows I watch while dreaming about the day it's my turn. But he can be pretty handy with cars...unless they are newer with a lot of complicated electrical components or any make other than Chevy. I don't necessarily agree with HOW he fixes things sometimes but until he's willing to trust that I do know more than I let on lol I just let him do things his way. Although I can do body work and wiring better than him and he knows it!

My husband THINKS he is an electrician, but let me tell you how much he knows..lol...He plugged 2 air conditioners into the same outlet while he was a bachelor...When we were tearing down the old house he cut a live wire rather than taking the time to shut the power off to the house...Hence giving himself a nice shock! LMAO..I laugh still. Thank God his cousin is an actual electrician...Saved us a bunch of money on Ummm..repairs..lol. My husband can be handy with somethings dont get me wrong...Just not house related things...Im afraid he will break something worse..lol

Well considering the fact that I'm a plumber and an A/C guy, I would think that this qualifies me as handy. But, you know I think we are both handy, I usually show my wife once and she can do it.
