My son wants to learn how to sew

We had a foster kid (a boy) that was really into sewing and had hand sewn his first quilt before he came to live with us. Shortly after we got him I bought him a sewing machine for his birthday...he loved it. You might try letting him make his first quilt. Let him pick his own colors, cut them into 6x6" squares and all he has to do is sew them together. If you know enough sewing you might be able to help him put it together when he's done or there are fabric stores that will do it for a fee. As for cross stitching, I've done it since 1991 and still love it. You can look online to find kits that come with everything in them. It's relatively simple and he should catch on pretty easily. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

There are some good basic sewing kits available. I wont recommend any as we probably live in different countries. A starter kit would help you too. It would be fun teaching your son to sew. I know my daughter wanted to learn to sew when she was very young. She ended up doing a sewing course in high school.

you could always try just taking some scrap material and having him sit down with you and you try slowly to sew it so he can watch. or try your local library and see if they have a sewing for beginners books. as for cross stitching theres alot out there that will say for beginners on it and usually have the pattern in the colour its supposed to be printed right onto the canvas already. that would make it a bit easier for him til he gets the hang of it then he could start doing smaller ones by looking the pattern on paper
