Creative Writing final...

I have to write a short story for my Creative Writing semester final. I was completely stuck for ideas when the thought of something like the Wizard of Oz popped into my head. I dismissed the idea but when discussing ideas with a friend he suggested it so I am now writing "Wizard of Nor". It is about a redneck, Richard, who is trying to make his way to a shelter during Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and he ends up in Nor with a transvestite, fat man, and nerd (yet to be named). What d'ya think? I'm having fun with it. It only has to be 5 to 7 pages long.
