Does this happen to you? It happened to me last night and made me think - do you ever get hiccups because of something you ate or drank? Whenever I drink Diet Coke with a straw I get hiccups - I have no idea why. And it's just Diet Coke, it doesn't happen when I drink Diet Pepsi or anything else.

My husband gets the hiccups when the dog comes to lick his face after he gets home from work in the evening. We don't drink Diet Coke, and you shouldn't either, young lady! :) It's very bad for you. Those artificial sweeteners in it are poison to your system.

That's a different way to get the hiccups! I know it's bad - that's why I drink Diet Pepsi. ;) Even my kids tell me not to drink it, at least I only drink 2 cans a day now. I used to drink a lt more.

I don't get hiccups when I drink soda... I burp! lol! I think it must be the bubbles. I don't get hiccups very often, and I can't even think of what triggers them. My oldest daughter gets the really, really big loud hiccups like her dad! They actually hurt her stomach and chest when she gets them!

Those hiccups are the worst! Oh, yes the burpping - lol. Of course that, especially if I drink soda too fast.

i get hiccups when going out to eat a lot.. cold soda of any kind will do it.. like REALLY cold soda.. i always get them.. sprite will do it. pepsi will and dr. pepper... not always.. usually its when i haven't drank soda in a while. either cold, or really carbonated soda. the min i drink it i know it will give me hiccups, i can tell just the way it goes down. i hate it cause then im sitting in a restaurant with the damn hiccups!

I know - the ones I get are really hard ones too, that hurt. I get all embarrassed in the restaurant. I try to relax and breathe deep to get them to stop.

Really. That's another one I haven't hear of before. I have a friend that gets them when he eats something too spicy.

Maybe. I never thought about it before, but Pepsi does lose it's carbonation quicker. Hmmmmm.

The last time I had hiccups after ingesting something was when I ate spicy noodles and drank coke afterwards. Now that was bad, I was hiccuping and burping at the same time. A friend later told me that the coke was making the noodles expand in my stomach or something like that.
I never tried it again.

That's funny. I never thought this happened to anyone else. For me though, I just get the hiccups whenever I drink soda in general. I can even time it accordingly. It's the only thing I know I can do meaning, I have no idea how to make myself burp. I've never burped whenever I drank soda or anything related to it. I guess this is one reason why i don't really drink soda anymore. It just gets annoying.
