Or is it another failure like those water beds that were recommended years ago and which we also bought and is sitting down in the basement?
On Ssturday, we go our new Miracle Foam bed that my husband ordered during the week because he has a bad back. Now me it did not bother me, only that the top was too high and it was hard to put the sheets tucked under - they would come loose, but he heard that they were good and since he could not even sit down on the couch and only on something that has a hard bed, he decided to get one of those Sealy Miracle Foam Beds.
Now I want to know is if these are as good as they say they are, do they really help people with bad backs?

I don't have any experience from these type beds. I don't have back problems either. But are these the type beds that you can adjust for your comfort level. One of my coworkers, her husband has a bad back and I thought she said that theirs was an air mattress that you could adjust to your comfort. But not sure what it is called.

I know what your talking about, terri. Now those beds I can relate to being I slept on one for a week while visiting a friend of mine. I loved that airbed (forgot what it was called as well) and wanted to bring it back home. lol My back didn't hurt once while I was visiting and sleeping on her airbed. My comfort level was 17 with the bed.

i just asked my coworker about this bed and she said it was a sleep number, but she said she wasn't too impressed with it and wouldn't recommend it!

Yet if I want something, my husband goes crazy. He says we cannot afford it.

They are fairly new. If you have a Brick store in your town, you can find out about them there. The reason we got one was because my husband -the impulse shopper in the family - had a bad back. When we went into the Brick, I thought we were going to look at Blu-Ray Dvd players because I hinted we might need on if they win the dvd wars.

Haha that is funny, and just like a man..My husband is the same way,he is a impulse buyer, however he looks to me for backup, and i just ignore him a lot.......or i will say somethong like ok maybe we will buy that one day..I have to do this because we live on a fixed income and a lot of times he would dig a hole for us and i have to be careful....

I woke up everyday with a backache. No matter what I tried, new mattress, hard mattress, soft mattress. It didn't matter, still a bachache. Then I found the most comfortable bed in the world, my bed, a water bed. No more backaches. I used to have a full wave mattress, now I have a 3/4 motionless mattress. Its instantly warm and comfy when I get in. I have no idea about the mattress that you are getting, I hope it works for you, good luck.

We had a waterbed and brought it here to Manitoba, but my husband did not want to put it in our main bedroom because he did not trust the floor of our house - built on the cheap.

We had a Sealy hard mattress, but it gradually got softer - so we got the Miracle Foam (and I am waiting for one of those cut sheep mascots. :)) but not the one with the dial each side to fit the other person. We both like firm.

We had one for about a week. The weight difference between my wife and myself is so great that she was always rolling down hill toward me. She just couldn't get any sleep. We ended up going with the Sleep Number bed. It did a much better job for us. It also helps my bad back.

Well I weight more than my husband because I am solid and it is not what you call the foam beds you get at camping stores. The foam springs back once you get out. What we got was a Sealy Miracle Foam bed set, complete with the box mattress underneath.

Hey - are you bashing waterbeds? Ok truth is I've slept on a water bed for 30 years now. I had the old fashioned kind for years but about 5 years ago got the kind with soft sides (just like a regular mattress takes regular sheets and all) and tubs so you don't get the 'waves' like the old ones. I have very low blood presure and a regular mattress cuts off my circulation during the night where a waterbed doesn't.
Have never slept on a Miracle Foam but my 16 year old son has had one for 3 years and he loves it.

I loved our Somma water bed that we purchased just before son (18.5) was born - infact it was delivered while I was in the hospital a few days before his birth.
IT lasted for 15 years before it started breaking down. so I guess that is not too bad a deal.
Glad to know that your son's miracle foam has worked for him, do you happen to know their intended life span?

We bought the water bed for my husband's older sister in case she came over for a visit. All his family seems to have bad backs and yes we got the old one. That was back in Saskatoon where we lived when we first married, so we brought it here, put it in the basement because my husband felt that it would break the floor of the main bedroom. Also filling it up with water all the time did not appeal to me so we got some mattresses so we could use it as a spare.

I've heard of those foam beds but didn't hear anything good/bad about them either. I'm assuming since it's foam and foam tends to compact over time, it might work for a while but then become hard as it permanently compacts down into a pancake.

I will be interested in the replies to this discussion as well, I have been tempted to purchase, but goodness they seem awful expensive for foam - it makes me a little apprehensive towards puchasing.
so how did he (and you) sleep last night?

It is not one of those foam topping that you put ON TOP of a regular mattress,it is a regular bed set, containing instead of a box spring and a regular mattress with the springs inside. We did look at the foam toppings but they were squashed into a box, so not that good. We got a bed set at The Brick - they were on sale. We had gotten a regular box spring mattress set at another store a few months ago.
For some reason, my husband thinks that his relatives are going to converge on us for a visit as we also have the water bed (converted to a regular bed( down in the basemnet.

We have never tried the expensive kind of Miracle Foam bed, but years ago we did put a 5 inch miracle foam "topper" over our existing mattress. It was and still is WONDERFUL. I also sleep on a Miracle foam pillow which came with the "topper" and although I've never had a bad back, I cannot imagine being without it. Can't you tell the difference right away?

We have a foam pad put over our old mattress but that meant that the sheets hardly fit over it and we had to get those things that hold the sheets to the mattress. I can tell the difference, but I do not have the bad back, my husband does. I find that the sheets do not pull out that quick. We move around quite a bit in bed.

No, they are not like a water bed failure. I have one and I love it. The foam shapes to your body and then when you get off it goes back to it's original shape. I have been sleeping on one for the last 8 or so years and I won't ever sleep on anything else. It is the most comfortable and wonderful bed I have ever owned. I have a terrible back and with this mattress I can sleep without back problems. I used to get up in the morning and my back would be so sore, not anymore. If I had to buy another one I would with no hesitation.
