Do you enjoy eating a good lobster? Are you a seafood lover? |
|
I love lobster although I seldom get to have it because it's so expensive even here on the East Coast. I have found a chinese restaurant nearby who has a special every day where you can get to boiled lobsters for $20 and THAT is quite a deal. I know so many people who don't like lobster but then they don't like any kind of seafood at all so I can see why. I especially like to dip it in butter and it's like heaven for me the few times I can afford it. There was a time when my favorite chinese dish was lobster sauce with lobster actually in it but it's become so expensive that they don't even put it in any more. My kids have asked me why they still call it lobster sauce and I told them they just let the lobster run through the water...lol.... How do you feel about lobster? Is it expensive where you live? Do you like or dislike seafood in general?

1. OreoCookie3 (13787) | 9 months ago | The only lobster I have ever had is a lobster tail once in a seafood restaurant and I didn't like the taste. To me it tasted similar to shrimp but the texture was different and it turned me off. My husband at the time at mine and his too and I ordered steak. My brother goes to Maine a lot and goes to these all you can eat lobster places and the price is very reasonable. The lobster houses or whatever you call them are right on or near the water front or something he said...**making face** I don't want any that is for sure!

2. byfaithonly (5701) | 9 months ago | Seafood is expensive here and not in my budget. I have never really had a taste for lobster but oh how I love shrimp. Fixed anyway, boiled, fried, dipped, breaded I can't think of a way to fix shrimp I don't love. Favorite part of the movie Forrest Gump is where his army friend is listing all the different ways to fix shrimp:)

byfaithonly (5701) | 9 months ago | At one time, when the movie first came out on video it was marked down in history - it was the first full length movie my oldest son ever sat all the way through - yes, he was/is ADHD and sitting still is not one of his finer features... For that reason alone I love the movie but also at the same time my youngest was very little and in a way grew up watching the movie with his older brother - at 3 he was resiting lines to the movie including the shrimp list.

3. Sissygrl (4548) | 9 months ago | You may think i'm odd after i tell you this story.:) I lived on the east coast of canada almost al my life, I moved to central canada about 4 years ago. A lot of my moms side of my family are acutually fisherman, and lobster fishermen at that! But Up untill i moved to ontario, i had never tried lobster!! I flew back home for one xmas and my MIL and FIL had steak and lobster and all kinds of other YUMMY novascotian east coast foods prepared for us! I enjoy eating haddock, and i enjoy scallops and canned tuna but.. does that count? I haven't liked any of the other fish that i've tried. Oh and shrimp is ok in SMALL amounts;) I'll only eat the lobster tail and claws! Are you one of those who eats that green poopy stuff inside the lobster? that is FOUL!

ctrymuziklvr (4473) | 9 months ago | lol...everyone tells me I'm throwing away the best part and I've even given it to whoever was with me but no, I don't eat that green stuff. I don't care what anyone says about it it looks gross.

Sissygrl (4548) | 9 months ago | HEhe i gave it away the few times that i've had the lobster whole too. I pass it on to the next person. HERE YOU GO! I think that its the poop. But they say its not poop, but its where the stomache should be, and its down to the where the bum should be.. so in my head, That's tHE POOP! i mean they can't starve them in that tank or they would cost less then what the store bought them for right?? So they gotta feed em something. WHAT DO THEY FEED THEM THAT SOME PEOPLE EAT? Can i be the one to start that discussion or would you like to? i dont mind if you want to since it stemmed from yours anyays;)

4. worldwise1 (5197) | 9 months ago | I've only had lobster a couple of times, ctry, but I really like it. It is very pricey, though, and the best place I know to get it where I live is at Red Lobster. I think Long John Silver's came out with a less expensive item called Lobster Bites a couple of years ago, but I've never tried them. I had an aunt who was in the nursing home a few years ago and she wanted lobster about once each month. Since my mother tried to get her everything she requested before her death, she would get the lobster for her. I would probably like seafood much better had I been exposed to it more.

ctrymuziklvr (4473) | 9 months ago | I wish we had a Red Lobster somewhere near me because I've seen their advertisements and some of what they offer looks great to me. I think we have to be exposed to different types of foods to have a likeing for them.

AedonLeone (475) | 9 months ago | From my experience, an evening at Red Lobster simply isn't worth the price I have to pay for it. I prefer to make my own seafood dishes at home. Since there's no Red Lobster near you, you might be interested in a few knockoff recipes that replicate the dishes Red Lobster serves. I found a pretty large selection of recipes for Red Lobster dishes at http://secretrecipes.blogspot.com/

ctrymuziklvr (4473) | 9 months ago | There isn't even a Red Lobster anywhere near me so I've never had the pleasure. I'll stick with the chinese restaurant where I get 2 boiled lobsters for $20...that's the way I like them anyway and it includes a salad.

5. moneyandgc (2908) | 9 months ago | I have only had lobster once I think. It was okay I think. I don't remember hating it. It is fairly expensive, so I am always afraid to order it in case I don't really care for it. It has been a long time since I tried it. I love crawfish though! They have to be cooked right though, not like those nasty ones in chinese buffets. I like fried and breaded shimp and shrimp scampi. I will eat some Alaskan King Crab legs every once in awhile with my dad, because he gets the meat out for me.

6. TheHairDresser (3389) | 9 months ago | I had never had lobster until last year. I have been here on the East Coast for nearly 7 years now, and had not tasted it. When I did, it was the best. It was very tender with lots of butter to dip in. I was sort of afraid of it at first, but then when I tasted it and it melted in my mouth, I was hooked. It was at a very nice cozy little seaside resturant past Hampton Beach, NH and I was so happy then.

| 9. jasmine_east (6) | 9 months ago | I love lobster but I also seldom have it because it's very expensive. My favourite way is to dip the fresh lobster in mustard sauce, so good taste! I still like other seafood such as crab, shrimp, oyster and fish, etc. I think having seafood is of benefit to our health, and the most important it 's easier for us to keep figure no matter how much we take.
