Are you a strict calorie counter or do you just guestimate?

I'm not a stict diet person, I just want to eat healthy and lose a few pounds. So when I use this website (sparkpeople.com) to track what I eat, I usually just guess. For example, when I enter in that I ate Pita bread today, I can't tell you if it was 6" big or 4" big since it was sliced, so I just take a guess! I figure the calories are close enough that I am at least getting an idea of what I eat and that's all I need to know. What about you? Do you make sure and measure out everything you eat to make sure it's exactly X ounces or exactly Y cups? It seems like it would be impossible to count calories that closely, but maybe that's just me. If you are very precise, how do you do it? And do you feel it is more of a benefit to be exact rather than guess at it?

I could never keep track of writing down calories all day! I do try to eat healthy and limit the goodies. My goal this year is to tone up--so I'm trying to get more exercise and eat healthier. As for your last question, it would be better to know the exact number of calories but estimating is ok as long as you have a fairly good idea!

It is too hard to write down calories, I agree. That's why I just (sometimes) write down what I ate. More concerned with what I am eating rather than exact calories. Too bad stores don't have packaging that you could just scan when you ate the product to add up calories. That's probably the only way I could do it for real

Now *that* would be a neat invention!
