Everyday luxuries

There are certain things I consider 'everday luxuries'. This doesn't mean, to me, luxurious things that some people have on a daily basis, Rides in Ferraris, mansions etc...but ordinary everyday things you consider luxuries. Here are a few of mine: Hot showers Hot baths (so my skin gets red all over - yes I know not great for dry skin) Long naps Day dreaming Dark chocolate - like dove during that time of month Kisses This is only a partial list - what's yours?

sleeping in, cuddling up in a warm blanket, watching my favorite movie or reading a good book with a cup of hot cocoa, dozing off and no one worried about waking me up, and having the option of dozing back off if I want to after I wake up. That would be a luxury to me, I rarely get a day off, when i do if I don't have alot of things I need to do, my kids have things they want to do. I can get to the part of the warm blankie, all the way to the dozing off part but when I get to that point, there is always someone that really thinks I need to be awake for some reason....

I haven't gone back to work yet, but feel for you. Today I was able to nap for three hours while my husband watched the baby - although I've done this a few times with a migraine - if my husband is home - this is the first time I can remember in a long time doing this just for the luxury of it. My baby didn't scream his head off as he usually would do - until he screamed himself to sleep! Your other luxuries I can easily add to my list!

Ohhh.....I remember those days when a nap or sometimes ever a shower was a luxury. My middle son would constantly want held or he would cry. I would sing to him, read, anything to settle him down so he would at least nap. Seemed like the only time he went to sleep was when my daughter was waking up. My older two kids were 18 months apart and it seemed like they wanted to play and stay awake when they were 2 and 3 and that only seemed to happen when I was tired and irritable. I thought that when they got older things would get better, but it seems like they always want me awake for one reason or another. My youngest is going on 13, the older two are 19 and 18 and all three of them will find a reason to wake me up if I try to nap. Funny thing? my daughter has her own place and calls me in the middle of the night to let me know she can't sleep, her baby is keeping her up, what can she do or can I go to her place to put the baby to sleep. (she lives about five minutes away and has no one to help with baby when she gets tired and frustrated)

I don't have anyone to help either - my husband works nights and sleeps until a bit before leaving for work. Wow you are an angel (hence your avatar) with the stories your relate about your kids!

What a neat discussion! I'll have to agree with all of yours except I prefer milk chocolate but any chocolate will do. Sleeping in on a freezing cold morning, you know, just rolling over and snuggling up some more into the covers. Spending a quiet, peaceful evening by myself on the recliner covered up watching some meaningless chick flick or a good mystery or horror film. Getting a foot massage from my husband, which doesn't happen often these days since I'm here with my mother most of the time. So it really IS a luxury when it occurs! Annie
