shea butter

whatb is shea butter really? how good is shea butter.
lately i have been seeing everything with shea butter in it. i haveactually purchased some things that have shea butter in them. i have lotion, shampoo, conditioner, chap stick, and body wash.
since i been using it my skin is softer and my hair has grown and my lips stay soft and smooth. is it really because of the shea butter in all of those products?
have any of you used products with she butter in them? what were your results?

My mother first learnt of shea butter when she went to Africa a few years back. She thinks it's really good and has been asking me to use it. I haven't personally used any shea butter ...so won't be able to tell if it really helps. But my mom says it really makes the skin soft and smooth...I'm not sure about the hair part. I don't think she's using products with shea butter but shea butter as it is (that is what I was given to understand).
