Tropical Astrology and it's lack of integrity

Although most astrology systems are less than 100% accurate, there is a major discrepancy in the calculations of planetary positions when using Tropical Astrology. 23 degrees difference - and that is major considering there is 30 degrees between each zodiac sign. This means that those born within the first 23 days of their existing birth sign (using Tropical) are in fact the previous sign.
Tropical is the system used by magazines, newspapers and is the most common form of commercial astrology. And it's FALSE.
To prove my point all you need to do is look out your window at night and see where the planets ACTUALLY are, visible to the naked eye. According to Tropical astrology for example, Jupiter is said to be in Capricorn at the moment. It is not, it is in Sagittarius. Same with Pluto - Tropical says it's in Capricorn but it's not, it's also in Sagittarius. Uranus is actually in Aquarius, yet Tropical says it's in Pisces.
Astrologers who use the Tropical system are giving you readings based on false information - where is the integrity in that?
Do you really know what your star sign is? Perhaps not.

You got that right! I Have no idea of my Star sign. The burning Question that comes to mind is- "Where is Uranus?" Would Uranus be visible to the Naked eye and when can I view it? Is there a ring around Uranus? also I'm curious as to when Uranus rises and sets?

Ahemmm, yes an unfortunate name perhaps - it's all in the pronunciation. But it's such a rebellious energy that it can take all the jibes you throw at it, and will kick your butt from here to the rings of Saturn in the process. Uranus is one of my favourite planets for this reason alone. If you give me your date of birth and place, and time would be good but not essential I can tell you what your correct sign is. If I have your time I can send you an interpretation also.

Let me just say that I am mostly self-educated and although I am interested in many things, I'm quite limited by my informal education. Also at my advanced age I no longer have the drive to step outside my intellectual comfort level. Many insights come via meditation, and other incorporeal invasions of consciousness. Life continues to be fun, and I value your friendship highly. Right from first meeting I've felt a kinship. I missed you when you were away. Now I'm glad that you are back.
Thanks for all the information. I can appreciate your interest and your wish to share!

Ahhhh, well here's an experiment for you. But perhaps you may want to wait until the Canadian winter is over (are you still there by the way?). Stargazing can have a profound effect on your meditation - seriously. Give it a try and see if you can tell the difference. There is a major sharpness that you can feel by tuning into those twinkling things. Say, before you go to bed you do 15 minutes gazing, then put your head on the pillow, you will sense an imprint the stars made. If you lock onto one, say one that appeals to you, catches your eye, then close your eyes you can feel a certain flavor or sensation that the star emits. Each one emits a different flavor. It's very tangible and moreso to one who meditates cause they are usually more able to sense differences in their own states of consciousness. Check it out and see what happens.

It's a long long time since I have done any astrology but I use the tropical system and find it works for me but then I don't believe the planets actively influence us, maybe in sidereal/vedic they do.
As you say yourself no system is 100% accurate and I'm sure there are countless arguments on house systems still going on. I have converted my own chart into sidereal/vedic and it has no relevance to me, sorry maybe over time the symbolic use has become so ingrained that altho it isn't astronmically accurate, it is still valid.

It doesn't matter whether the system is Tropical or Sidereal - aspects to Planets remain unchanged. What is different is the planet's position in the zodiac. Unfortunately in tabloid horoscopes, which is what the general public read more than any other they put emphasis on the constellations. It is the position of the Sun to the constellations that is 23 degrees out. Saying Sidereal has no relevance to you is also saying Tropical has no relevance to you.
You cannot define yourself to a constellation. Saying you are Pisces, or Aquarius is very shallow because you miss a major amount of information about your psychological makeup, or the influence of planetary forces in your life. Constellations are a very small part of a big pie.
I agree with you about the symbolic use and how it becomes ingrained in peoples minds. People end up believing it and that's disempowering.
Thanks Foxfire for taking the time to repond to this discussion.
