3. carmelanirel (5261) | 9 months ago | Though considered a weed, dandelions are edible, just you don't want to eat too many. After soaking them in salt water, you just use a mixture of flour, corn meal and seasonings, like when you deep fry mushrooms and fry them.. And of course clovers are edible. I also take dandelion and clovers and juice them with carrots, makes a great energy drink for spring cleaning. Another flower that I recently found was edible, is the flowers on the red bud tree.. You would really have to collect many to get a serving, so I just pick some as I go by and they taste like a sweet lettuce..I think they would be great on salads, I may try it this year..

Modestah (7428) | 9 months ago | hey, thanks for a very informative post... we have red bud around us and I did not know this about them, I am anxious to give them a try this spring, now. aren't violets also edible?

carmelanirel (5261) | 9 months ago | I don't know about violets. Actually it would be nice if a herbalist would respond. Because like I said about the dandelions, some flowers, though they are edible, can be dangerous if you eat too many, especially if they have medical tendencies.. Though I also wondered about roses. The Turkish Delight that they had in the Narnia movie? It calls for rose water and I wondered how that was made, with roses? petals or leaves? I would like to know that..

4. Modestah (7428) | 9 months ago | I had no idea that a marigold would be edible... my son is really up on such topics and he has given me various blossoms to try - I think one is called nesturcians which had a bit of a peppery flavor he has also given me a lily blossom I think it was from a day lily, probably stella d'ora?? Squash blossoms are tasty as well. I am sure there are countless others -

6. brimia (6166) | 9 months ago | I've used sugared nasturtiums on top of cupcakes. I've used dandelion leaves in salad and have heard the flowers can be used for wine.

7. jimbelle (293) | 7 months ago | Aside from cauliflower and broccoli the most popular and versatle among the edible flowers is the rose. I read it can be made into wine, cake added to soup and salad. It can be fried just like the Japanese Tempura. I have not eaten them yet. I will try it one of these days.
