I was a preschool teacher for 8 years. I had to get out because I couldn't watch the way the kids were being raised these days. It's sad. There are so many parents out there that are doing it... well wrong. So what have you seen that really chapped your hide? I'm not talking about abuse or anything, just the basic mistakes. My examples (and there are SOOOO many more than this: One family used to bring their daughter into daycare every morning with a chocolate bar for breakfast! How do you expect her to have healthy eating habits or be able to learn when you pump her with pure sugar every morning? One family complained about the "clean plate club" I had in my room because their child was a picky eater and they didn't want her to feel excluded from anything; dispite the fact that over 10 other families personally thanked me and told me it motivated their child to eat better & try new foods the "club" had to be nixed because one family didn't want their child to eat right. One family the mom didn't work, but the kids were there full time because she couldn't "handle" her own children! She just dropped them off and went shopping & did her hair & got her nails done... every day!

I am bothered by the parenting of some of my neighbors. Mind you I live in public housing, but I don't think that has anything to do with it. At least, not really. People tend to hit kids for anything around here. They also don't tend to watch them well and let them run around with no coats and in parking lots without looking for traffic. I know some kids are bratty, but the kids around here are mostly neglected.

When in my Pediatricians office when my son was a newborn, this woman was bragging that she went up to a woman and got in her face about the other woman disciplining her child. I couldn't believe it! She even said," It's not like the woman was beating the kid, but I wont stand for it". I know of a woman who had her kids taken away from her for 6 months because her kid punched her in the stomach in a parking lot, and she popped him in the butt. I think we need to be able to discipline our kids so we don't have hoodlums! Anyway, other than that- I hate hearing foul-mouther little kids.... and lack of respect for elders, or other people in general.
